Tree Dancers Anew - fresh drawings from time to time

Prepping for the first show of the year has me looking at pieces afresh. Some of them cry out for rework. This is one that I added some work to because it looked like it had a huge hole in it's composition (hence the crane), the base was too truncated, and the form on the left needed to be added to. I'm not taking the red0 to my image guy - I lack funds and time - so I did the next best thing and took multiple scans to cobble together in Photoshop. Here is the result.

"The Wistful Prince (Re-Imagined)" came back to me after Ma moved into her residence. 8"x10" mostly coloured pencil. I think the frog wonders if she'll awaken with a kiss, and she wonders if he is her enchanted prince. image.jpeg

"Yin Yang" 16"x24" acrylic - I revisited this one prior to an upcoming show because it was just too yellow. Plus this was an early Tree Dancer, and I wanted to feel better about her by taking a second look.

I’m trying my hand at doing some smaller pieces. The last half dozen I’ve worked on were very intensive. I’m thinking I need to try backing off from that committment to individual works as a sort of refresher/reset.
This is the first of 8 similar pieces I want to do in the next little while.all the same size. I even already bought IKEA frames for them :)

This is the second drawing of the set. I decided I should do them two by two. I'm hoping the pairs look related if I use that approach.

Three older pieces got a bit of touch up. They were grinding on me, and I did want to add them to my upcoming Artist Project 18 show here in Toronto.

I have some Tree Dancer concepts I want to work on, so there are preliminary drawings to be done. Which means developing a series to get a sense of what to do with them. This is the first one - "Dancer Series I" graphite 9"x12"
