I have a pretty decent setup in my house, so I still have been able to get by with watching movies I have been meaning to watch. But, I do judge my life on the ability to see 2-3 big new movies the week they come out in the movie theater.

HONESTLY, I CAN NOT REMEMBER THE LAST TIME WE WENT TO THE MOVIES.
NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT, IT WAS QUITE A FEW YEARS AGO. WE WERE ON VACATION AND WE (ME, MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER) WENT TO SEE THE HAPPY DINOSAUR.

AFTER LOOKING WHEN IT CAME OUT, IT WAS 2015. SO IT HAS BEEN 5 YEARS SINCE I HAVE BEEN TO THE MOVIES. ITS JUST EXPENSIVE. ITS LIKE 20 PER PERSON AND A DRINK AND SOME POPCORN IS LIKE 20, SO FOR 2 PEOPLE IT WOULD BE LIKE $60. THATS A LITTLE EXCESSIVE TO ME

I used to go two or three times a month with my daughters.
It was a fun bonding time.
We would have dinner and argue about aspects of the movie.
    I miss that.

Just an update of sorts- I never go to the movies anymore, with a few exceptions. I used to go all the time, sometimes twice a week back when I was single and was obsessed with cinema.

In the past few years, I only go if the movie in question is something I cannot wait for, like a Star Wars movie. But even now, I don't find myself drawn to anything Star Wars-related anymore. Hell, I don't even watch new movies anymore.

The penultimate film I saw was Indiana Jones & the Dial of Destiny (this should surprise no one here) and that was back in 2023. When that movie ended, I sat in my seat for a while, taking in the fact that I would likely never set foot in a theater ever again.

However, this past January found me in a theater again, as a classic Hong Kong action film I've seen numerous times (but never on the big screen) was being shown in a brand-new 4k upscale. I managed to snag a buddy along for the ride, as he'd never experienced a movie of this sort before.
