House in Tree (no not a tree house!)

Here's the story, an indian man built a tree house. But not just any tree house. Have a look:

He built it because someone bet him he couldn't keep the value of this property unless he chopped down its fruit trees. Way to go Mr Singh!

Still, it's a bit mad!

Our hearts are incommunicable still.
In what we show ourselves we are ignored.
The abyss from soul to soul cannot be bridged
By any skill of thought or trick of seeming.
Unto our very selves we are abridged
When we would utter to our thought our being.
We are our dreams of ourselves, souls by gleams,
And each to each other dreams of others' dreams.

I have always wanted to live in a tree house (or a house in a tree). This is pretty cool.

I love it. Ditto, I always wanted to live in a tree house. One day. I admire Mr. Singh. I also love that water tap message. Convey the message without saying anything. Live with the living. Thanks for the post!

I absolutely love looking for more natural and sustainable options for living. His home is essentially flood proof. It's only going to become more stable assuming he keeps up on trimming and such. I especially like the water and waste systems.

I read an article a few years back about the possibility of growing rooms. We're getting to the point now where gene manipulation can mean increasing the rate of growth, and proper trimming can create a room shape. Can you imagine not just having a living room, but a living room?

I couldn't do it, but it's still pretty cool. I think I'd like the open room the most.

I also love tree houses and I've built a few...but not as elaborate as that one. We did have one with electricity wired in (taped into a neighbor's electric to his garage), but never had running water. My two boys are often bugging me about building a nice one, but the only good tree we have in back of the house requires a quite high tree house and I didn't want to do that when they were younger, now it would be OK....we got a couple great tree house trees in front but I'm afraid the zoning/neighbors might object since it's a developed residential area.

when i was a little kid, my little brother and i really wanted a tree house, unfortunately there were NO trees of any size on the lot my parents house sat upon. my dad wanted to build us one anyway. being ten and six we thought our dad was crazy, how could you build a tree house without any trees? for a month in 1989 my brother and i weren't allowed in the backyard. then one day my dad and mom got us up really early in the morning and took us to the yard. what did we see? my dad, with the help of my mom's brother and her dad, my grandpa, had built a house just my size on 20ft. stilts! this thing had a 30ft playground slide, a rope ladder, a little deck, and a huge sandbox underneath. holy crap is what i said, unfortunately crap is a cuss word and i wasn't allowed to play on it until the next day.
