I'm sorry... I know an MBA.. but a JD?

as far as MBA... most the people I know who have them do some sort of Marketing or Sales.

Lots of accountants and upper management have MBAs also. Just think of the guys that get fat 'retention' bonuses in the hundreds of thousands of $ while the grunts get laid off and you'll have MBAs.

(edit)
Worth it? Oh yeah, if you can get into the big boys club the sky's the limit for earnings.

Totally worth it. When it comes down to it, they'll pick the guy with the degree.

Crazy

MBA is a huge investment, if you're competent and ambitious you don't need it at all. If you are quite bright then MBA might appeal as long as you can go to a good business school and place high.

Personally speaking I know classmates from my undergraduate class that earn more than MBAs, and they saved what $50 - 100k minus the fancy acronym on their business card

It is a huge commitment and investment. But it will pay you back in spades.
