Awesome, Herk! Gum is definitely a healthier and less expensive habit, I just hope you don't over-work your jaw.

Still going stong. Thanks for pointing out the price issue. Somebody convinced me to calculate how much money I'd save in a year by not smoking 1-2 packs per day. I can't remember the number, but it was enough to make me really proud of myself, and to make me want to go buy some expensive crap I can't afford.

This is the key I think. It's not so much the health thing that kept me going. As a frequent flyer, things like when you're plane is delayed 45 minutes trying to figure out if you have enough time to run out for a smoke and get back through security in time to make it. Not being paranoid in meetings that you wreak of smoke. In general, not revolving every second of every day around when you're next smoke is gonna be, is a phenomenal feeling. That's what really keeps me going (with where I'm at anyway)
Substituting the crack pipe for cigarettes is not the smartest thing my friend. Hang in there though we're all very proud of you anyway. Keep up the good work!

One thing to watch out for, though--sugarless gums are sweetened with sorbitol, maltitol, mannitol and xylitol, each of which can cause gastrointestinal (*ahem*) results if chewed to excess. So if you're a chain-chewer, invest in some Depends as well, or hang out near the bathroom.

Way to go.

On a side note I was watching something the other night and a guy said he really liked going to church, so he give it up for lent.

I'm sure it's an old joke but struck me funny at the time.
