We're back!

Wooooooooooooooo! We're back!

Phew, I've missed the forum style. The blog was great in the interim, but a forum is a totally different world.

Did anyone do anything productive in the wait? I just ended up bored at work.

One thing that made me laugh, on the day of the crash:

PHP Code:
<div class="sidebarcontent">

I've been somewhat productive.. but my procrastination experienced new lows. I actually started watching TV again since I didn't have TFP to distract me.

The mandatory what did you do? thread

Welcome back everyone!

I figure it's going to come up, someone's going to ask it.

What did you do while TFP was the server was down?

I tried to get in chat as often as I could. I also tried to find something more general to look at for the blog. It was hard to write an entry and not think in "blog" or "journal" modes. For some reason the format stuck in my craw.

But it's very much nice to see the place back, intact, and not really TFP5.0, but definitely a bit above TFP4.0.

Mostly I got work done.

I read almost all of James Loewen's Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong and finished C.S. Forester's Mr. Midshipman Hornblower. I also had a pretty busy weekend--went to the farmers market, to the annual library book sale fundraiser, and a potluck. That helped too.

Everyone needs to thank Sty, who is sort of a silent Administrator here. He spent his entire day setting up the server and deserves a LOT of love.

Nothing and hated every minute of it

Felt extremely lonely and lost....I agree with the addiction statement above, I didn't expect to feel a sense of loss the way I did. I didn't do squat in replace of the forum which is probably why I have been so crabby these last few days. Glad to be back to the ol' self!!!

I thank everyone involved with helping get the site back up and running, today you are my hero(s)!

I gotta say...I am super-glad the data is intact. I remember the crashes when I first joined TFP, and I would have been crushed to lose my journal. I suppose I should consider backing it up somewhere else, but that seems difficult at best. Hrm.

And, snowy, it may not be quite what you're looking for, but while you're in your journal, you can go to journal tools (top right), and select to download your journal in TXT or XML format

There are no more barriers to cross. All I have in common with the uncontrollable and the insane, the vicious and the evil, all the mayhem I have caused and my utter indifference toward it I have now surpassed. My pain is constant and sharp and I do not hope for a better world for anyone, in fact I want my pain to be inflicted on others. I want no one to escape, but even after admitting this there is no catharsis, my punishment continues to elude me, and I gain no deeper knowledge of myself. No new knowledge can be extracted from my telling. This confession has meant nothing.
