The FBI says the man they arrested Thursday, 41-year-old Warren Brown, is a pastor at Bible Baptist Church in Norman.

A tip received by the FBI indicated Brown could be the person the Bureau was seeking. FBI agents began surveillance of Brown two days ago.

Thursday morning, agents followed Brown to the Oklahoma's Educator's Credit Union where they watched him go in and case the facility. He then exited the building, put on a hood and pair of glasses. When he went back in he handed the teller a note.

Outside the bank Brown was greeted by six agents. Another agent, who was inside the bank, came out as well. The FBI said Brown has admitted to six robberies.

"Right now I just don't want to answer any questions," said Brown's wife.

"This was a major shock to me," said congregation membr Mickey Fabri.

"[We're] very excited to solve somebody who has robbed five banks," said FBI spokesman Gary Johnson. "He clearly was going to keep robbing banks until he was caught."

Brown appeared before a federal magistrate and was then booked into the Oklahoma County jail.

The FBI has not released a possible motive for the robberies, but one congregation member said hard times had hit the church and it was no longer able to pay his pastoral salary.

what was he gonna do with it? i mean, he can't do all the fun stuff.
then again, i feel this is more scary than funny. serial killers do things for no reason just to get caught - maybe this guy was crying for help.

These types of stories don't surprise me anymore. I guess it's funny because these people claim to be more "in-touch" with "God" than the rest of us. Despite their pious appearances, religious figures seem equally flawed as (or even more flawed than) the rest of us.

I have met hundreds of 'preechurs' in my life. A few are honest, caring and sincere. For everyone of those there are 897 that are the phoniest SOBs every born. In our little corner of the world there is a church on almost every other corner in town and a few in the middle of the block and don't forget those that have moved into empty stores on Main Street (Yeah! It's Main Street just like the sign says - not Parkplace or Boardwalk or whatever). What I see most is that these people do not work! They do not get dirty! they do not worry about anything because they all are up close and personal with a large group of totally inane assholes that will give them almost anything they want and blindly throw cash into a pot for them to steal later. At least this guy made no bones about being a flat out and out theif! Then you have the totally phony asses on TV with Rolexes on both arms up to their elbows - but that's another story.

I swear, Oklahoma and preachers, are we blessed or what? Every preacher my church had when I was growing up needed more money, a bigger parsonage, and they bred like rabbits. I was not impressed.

By the way I was forced for 16 years or so to attend the Church of Christ. There was only one rule. If you're having fun, stop it.

Being a preacher is just a job to me like any other. It makes no one special. He could have just gone out and got another job instead of being a waste.
