resolution about joking around with friends - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

I don't know about the rest of you, but i've found that when with good friends, our humor isn't all that clean. When we joke around with each other, an outsider would probably think a) we hate each other, b)we're racists, c) we're either homophobes or all have massive gay orgies together. So, I was thinking (partly because of the tread about the word "gay" being an insult) that too much of my humor is crude.

I've decided that for the next week, I'm going to see if I can go without using sex, homosexuality, or race in joking around. Not sure I can do it, but i figure it will be intersting to try.

Do the rest of you do stuff like this (the humor, not the stopping doing it)?

wow! I'm exactly like that. I'm always being racist/sexist/homophobic/homosexual/hatefilled around my friends, but only becasue they all know that there is absolutely nothing in it. I guess its in poor taste, but I don't see the harm, when everyone knows it not for real.
However I would never act like that in front of people that I wasn't so close to, as they might confuse it for being real.

Food for thought:

Maybe to you it's just joking around, but how sure are you about your friends? It can be shocking to find out friends you thought you were joking with are taking this stuff seriously. I'm all for humor in poor taste, don't get me wrong; you just have to make sure once in a while that you're all on the same page.

So I was fucking this guy in teh ass last night and he turned around and asked me for a kiss and I was like, "what, are you gay?"

Crud humor is fine as long as it done in a tastless manner.

oh no, my friends are just as bad as me. we all love humor in poor taste. not around people i don't know though, i definatly think that's in bad taste unless i know they're okay with it. i just figured it might me be fun to see waht i can come up with without resorting to that sorta humor. my best friend doesn't think i'll last the week.

me and my friends kid around all kinds of stuff.

i tell black friends that i'm the kkk or something, something that wild.

it's just in the circle, and everyone's joking and we all knw it.

mainly it's about sex and how the other guy is gay
