How to be a Flight Attendant?

I'm interested in becoming a flight attendant. Does anyone know anything about those floght attendant schools they have on the internet or anything of that sort? What's the best way to do it? Thanks for your help.

I don't know much about this either, but it was something I was entertaining a few weeks back myself. The site I checked put me off quite a lot, basically it was a one day training course which dealt with how to 'market yourself' to airlines. It didn't actually get into the nitty gritty, just prepared you for the interviews etc. I thought that was pretty lame, and probably not worth my $200 au, so I kinda gave up... :/

I did a story about flight attendants several years ago and talked with the folks at Delta. At that time, at least, they trained all of their people in-house, meaning those third party schools were mainly a waste of money.

Not to state the obvious, but have you ever asked one of the attendants for his/her advice when you were on a flight?

The airline will train you, don't waste your money on anything else.

My girlfriend has an ex who worked for an airline. I will ask her and report back to you.

This is a good idea, except I've never been on a flight :) Thanks to everyone for your help so far, I agree those online schools do sound like a waste of money. Do airlines really demand your resume be in an exact format?

Why would you want to be a flight attendant if you've never been on a flight? I'm not making fun. It's just a strange question to ask when you've never flown before.

I hate flying... but didn't know that until I flew a great number of times. It's stressful and boring. To me at least.

True, I suppose there is a distinct chance I might hate flying, I never thought of that.

Mainly because I like people, I'm enrolled in school right now but not very interested in it, and I'd like to go somewhere and do something. It seems like it would be a fun job.
