freevibe.com Grr..

http://www.freevibe.com/drug_facts/mj.asp#

I could write a long rant about how rediculous this site is. But instead I will just ask a question. What the fuck is wrong with people. For starters, they advertise this site giving the impression that it is "hip" and unbias when it is made by National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign. I can't be sure but it looks like the majority of the posts by "visitors" are made up or sent in by people who have never actually smoked weed.

"It's important also to remember that marijuana is an addictive drug, responsible for about 60% of all the teenagers who seek admission to drug treatment centers in the U.S. Smoking marijuana leads to some changes in the brain similar to those caused by cocaine, heroin and alcohol"

And the Stoner Greeting Card is just fucking creepy.

Ok I guess I ranted a little. But when are the intellegent going to be the majority and not stand for shit like this. Even if you don't smoke, or don't think other people should, any intellegent person should want people to get actual helpful facts. Not government propaganda that will make our generation look like fucking morons(Reefer Madness).

No, I am just saying if someone tries to advertise as being unbias, the shouldn't shove propaganda down your throat.

It's sooo bad to hear the truth, huh?
Well, I've personally seen many friends destroy their lives, and all they did was weed.... But hey, it's good for you so don't listen to me....

I think it's funny/sad how people who smoke weed think they're not doing any harm to themselves and the people around them. I could go on and on about what I think about weed smokers, but it won't be a popular opinion and I couldn't possibly express myself in a manor that would be acceptable.

What if you did have a kid and pool, and the baby sitter who was supposed to be watching your child was getting high and that happened? Would you find it funny then? I've known chics who baby sat and got high while they were watching other peoples kids.... Lucky for them there wasn't a possibility that could ever happen.

My personal opinion is that pot is less dangerous than alcohol, in general. Of course, I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs. But smoking pot is like drinking. You have to be responsible about its use. The commercial about the babysitter smoking could just as easily be about drinking. For instance, 40% of all violent crimes are committed when drinking is involved. Watch COPS, the show, most of the domestic violence offenders are drunk. Not many are shown as being high on pot. So I would be happy in getting rid of all dnagerous substances. But if we cannot do that, I think I would rather have a bunch of stoned people than a bunch of drunk people.

And I know literally hundreds of succesfull working adults who smoke pot. So whats your point? Some people are just fucknuts to begin with, some people smoke pot because their lives suck but that doesn't mean pot made their lives suck. But hey since you know how it will effect me because you assume how it effects one person is how it effects everyone why don't you just go and tell everyone what to do.

Agreed. Just about everyone I have talked to that is opposed to pot has had something bad happen to them in relation to it. Whenever someone is just opposed to it for no reason they are usually pretty misinformed. Not to say there is no intellegent stance against smoking pot, but I don't know how much of one there is for keeping it illegal, or with such high penalties.

If pot is ruining your life, or someone you knows, there is definetly a deeper problem then their pot smoking.

And yes it is "so bad to hear the truth" because they are giving half truths. And not letting people get actually facts so they can make an intellegent decision themselves.

Just a few examples:

"responsible for about 60% of all the teenagers who seek admission to drug treatment centers in the U.S. "

What they are leaving out is that the majority of these people have a choice between jail time, or treatment when they get charged with possesion.

"Research proves that marijuana is addictive.² It's true that withdrawal might not be as severe as with heroin or other drugs, but research shows that people who regularly smoke marijuana have withdrawal symptoms-drug cravings, decreased appetite, nervousness, irritability, stomach pain, aggression, and anxiety, among others"

In a study by the national center on drug abuse, pot was listed last, with caffeine. nicotine, cocaine, alcohol, and herion above it in that order.

thanks to pyramid for that info.

I know how you're feeling, mepitans. Us "crazy" gun owners get the same kind of crap.

I don't agree wwith smoking pot or doing drugs, but unlike the people who are so intent on banning guns, I am not going to do anything to help stop it. It's already illeagal, yet it's still here.

You could make the same statement about anything that would take the babysitter's attention away from watching the kid..

If they really wanted to scare you they could just combine the two stories right....Babysitters who get high and masturbate to pornography while your kids are floating in the pool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(you know it must be scary by the amount of exclamation points I've used )

I've never heard the story about the pool and the babysitter; I always thought that pot smoking babysitters preferred to cook the kids in the oven to help appease "The Munchies!!!!!!!!!"

While pot may not be physically addictive, it is most certainly mentaly addictive, and as far as I am concerned, that's the same thing. This I know from both personal experience and watching some friends of mine, including my best man at my wedding, whom I haven't spoken to in some three years.

i am just gonna leave this alone, people need information, yes it is true, too many people are willing to try new things without knowing at least what it is made from, let alone the effects of the drug. unbiased information is my "drug of choice"

I'm not gonna say pot isn't bad for you, but it's not much, if any worse than Alcohol.

EVERYTHING those anti-pot commercials show can have the word "pot" changed to "alcohol" and it'd still be as true.

Hello, Im writing today wondering why can't you put real facts within your website, not just propaganda the government pays you off to say?

Dont you beleive that we as a society should be given the opportunity to base out opinions out of what WE think, not what YOU tell us. Ive smoked marijuana from about 17-21, im 22 now. Im in my 3rd year of Mechanical Engineering and im in the top of my class. Now why isnt there anything about people like me on your website? The sucessful pot smoker.

If you really were an unbiased source of information, you would understand that the only reason marijauna is illegal by your american government, is because it is an UNTAXED drug. Alcohol kills thousands among thousands every, but wait, thats legal? Oh... maybe its only legal because millions of dollars of revenue are made off for the gov't.

Ive posted up my story a few times, but hmmm seems like you only take the negative marijauana stories. I look forward to your response. Thanks.

Thank you for sharing your opinion with us at Freevibe.

Our site reaches out to kids specifically between the ages of 9-18, we will never advocate illegal and harmful drugs.

I know friends of mine who are just short of becoming genuis who've done pot. I know friends of mine who aren't that bright or goal-oriented who've done pot. In both those cases, I know some who do it regularly, and some who only do it every now and then. IN THE CASES I'VE SEEN PERSONALLY, the ones who have done it regularly have seemingly thrown their lives away for it. The ones who do it every once in awhile almost seem like they benefit from it intellegence-wise. I've never done pot and I have no interest to (same goes for smoking anything, even just cigerettes), but it looks to me IN THE CASES I'VE SEEN PERSONALLY that a toke here and there has minimal-to-no harm, but too much will retard you.

Take it for what it's worth.

First of all, if I ever had a kid, I'd be fucking 110% POSITIVE, NO QUESTION sure about the responsibility of the "teenager" I let watch my kid. Smoking pot has nothing to do with irresponsibility. People who are irresponsible will be so, whether they are under the influence or not. If you have a job to do, then you don't do things which will prevent the faithful and precise execution of your job, and if that means you can't watch TV, or eat, or surf the internet, or smoke pot, then that is your responsibility to realize the situation and make an intelligent decision. If, however, smoking pot or watching TV DO NOT prevent you from fufilling this commitment, then it doesn't matter.

Also, as a side note, let's not forget that proper safety precautions when you have a pool have to be observed to be sure a child cannot GET TO the pool without an adult, and therefore this argument SHOULD be null and void. But let's not admit we didn't safeguard our kid from an obvious danger, let's blame the babysitter. That's easier, and I don't have to face the fact i'm a bad parent for hiring an irresponsible person to care for my child in an environment i've not properly secured to begin with. Yes. *sigh* That does feel good.

I know many stoners- i mean total stoner POTHEADS, and not a damn one of them loses any of their "responsibility" when they smoke. They all know you cannot smoke and drive. They all know you cannot smoke if you have something important to do which requires sobriety, even if it's not until the next day or however long is necessary. RESPONSIBILITY. Of the ones that aren't already in high-paying professional careers, the others are mostly doing very well in college. The few who aren't in one of those categories are fuck-ups, and always have been well before starting to smoke pot, and always will be regardless of the amount they smoke.

I use it mostly to successfully (and I say this because no prescription drug i've ever tried has done any kind of "good" job, besides giving me horrible side-effects) get rid of mentally-crippling anxiety attacks. You know that tight-chest, mind-swimming feeling you get during an anxiety attack? Mine would last for days at a time, from when I woke up to when I slept, if I got to sleep. Gee, I wonder why I had horrible insomnia all my young life since as early as my memories can reach?

Donuts aren't good for you. Over 33% of American adults and 25% of American children are classified as "obese" (read it in Time magazine, for a reference). Cigarettes are bad for you. How many people die each year from lung cancer, and other cancers associated with the use of tobacco products? They're also addictive. Alcohol also kills brain cells, kills your liver over time when used in excess, and can be addictive to the point of causing it's own disease, alcoholism.

So who the fuck cares what marijuana does to me? YOU are not smoking it, I AM.

EDIT: And those anti-pot, "it's not as harmless as we all thought" commercials make me physically ill. The one with the girl and the pool made me gag the first time I watched it. What a horrible, disgusting tactic- especially considering they're all bullshit. Every time I see one, I want to scream.

yes, I'd be upset if I had a kid and that happened while the babysitter was smoking pot... or looking at porn.. or trying to cook a 5 course meal... or talking on the phone... or doing ANYTHING in such a way that would distract them from the watching the child. Pot is not the point.

The greeting cards made me laugh- when they put their propaganda in a poem like that it's just so stupid it's funny.

Marijuana is not the problem, and it's not a solution either. It's just a recreational drug that like all drugs is both used and abused. The decision to use it or abuse it is not influenced by the drug itself. Freevibe is just cataloging-sp? the abusers of this substance, which means only that you have to look at as many opinions and facts as you can to get a balanced perspective on the harm and benefit of pot.
