I've not joined any other forums. The only reason I joined this one is because every now and then hubby would show or tell me about something interesting here. Then he posted some of our pics and you guys, without having ever had me post here myself, gave such positive feedback about our pics that I decided it was worth it to join. I wouldn't be here if I'd gotten the kind of crap that you describe as being a part of these other forums. I certainly would never have wanted hubby to post our pics in exhibition if I'd seen him getting any crap like that either. Guess the other forums are just missing out. ;)lol

I enjoy checking all my forums, none more than the others. Take it with a grain of salt.

I say it probably once a week on one forum or another. "If something that small can offend you, I'm sorry you have the internet"

It's not personal attack, but truth is your gonna stumble onto something one day much more offensive than someone saying "haha ur such a noobz0r assdonkey fuker!~!~~"

I don't think it's a matter or question of being offensive, but more a statement relating to the supreme immaturity of the people who engage in such practices.

Just adding my 2 cents, I understood he was making a statement meant for broad conversation to follow. I guess I should have said "annoyed" not "offended" as I think the tone of his statement implies aggrivation and not so much repulsion.

I haven't been to forums that were as bad as the ones you describe but I have browsed through forums that did seem pretty rude and immature. Because of that I didn't stay long enough to even remember what they were. Really makes me appreciate this forum though. Its the best I've found on the web.

What was the purpose of these other forums?

I'm on a BUNCH of other forums (mostly automotive or technical) and have never encountered any hazing, other than normal.

If I want to get in a flame war, I just go over to fark and post strong absolute opinions in politics threads :-)

I can see how other 'social' forums could degenerate...however, I don't see the need for any other 'off topic' forums other than TFP :)

I'd like to make a small note on their behavior over at the Some Idiot Forums...

1) If you have only seen parts of Office Space and wasn't terribly impressed by it, you deserve to be put on probation according to them. (I have seen Office Space, and it's pretty cool...but this is an experiment)

2) If you play tennis, you are gay.

3) If you know any women at all, you must post naked pictures of them...with or without their consent.

4) Bumping is a no-no. (to be fair, I'm purposely making them mad; I'm bumping my topic with a super-lame joke as soon as it's not the very top thread in the forum)

5) If you post, you're a fuckwit.
