Warning: eBay email scam

Move this to appropriate forum if need be.

I received an email from what looked like ebay. It ended up in my bulk folder, so I was highly suspicious.
(SecurityCheck@eBay.com)

Here is the heading and content:
Quote:
SecurityCheck@eBay.com" <SecurityCheck@eBay.com> Add to Address Book
To: puressence_scents@yahoo.com
Subject: Security issue regarding your eBay account.
Date: Sat, 24 Apr 2004 02:31:08 +0300

Dear eBay User
As stated in the User Agreement, Section 41.1, we may send you this email.

We regret to inform you that your eBay account can be suspended if you do not solve your problems and you do not co-operate. After the multiple frauds registered lately, our company has initiated a study regarding this problem. In this study the company has reached the conclusion that most of the frauds were possible because of the low email service security level .

< DIV> For a best deployment of our further activities (the frauds prevention) our company has decided to test for free the security of the email services that you (our users) use.
Hoping you have understood that we are doing all these for your own safety and for the good deployment of the relations between our company and its parteners we suggest you to acces the following form to test your e-mail .

This problem is regarding any eBay member .
If you do not respond in 24h after you have received this eBay notice, your account might be closed and got out from our server .
So we ask you kindly to co-operate and let us know if you still use your account or not.
Please login into your account at this link:
http://signin.ebay.com//aw-cgi/eBayI...ame=h:h:sin:US

If you have any other problems contact us.

A very vague, open email about fraud on my account. The addy in the new window (from clicking the link) does not match the one given in the email. In this post, however, it will take you to eBay, but it doesn't from the email.
It asks for ebay account ID & password, along with email address and password.
Here is the actual link it took me to:
http://www.hform.com/form.cgi?1472541

Just want to warn you fellow eBayers out there. I reported it to eBay.

I just deleted an even worse email from my junk folder, supposedly from Citibank, but it looked like it was made by a 6 yearold.

First, to get around the filters, the header was like

C_i_T_i_B_a_N_k

and then the inside wasn't much better.

Definitely thieves with English as a second language.

I suspect the boys from Lagos are branching out.

If eBay or ANY other online location like this sends you emails stating that your account is disabled or whatever. Fine. DON'T use their links provided. Browse to the location yourself and check it out/.

Yea, I got the one from Bogus-Bay asking me to reenter my credit card info. It also said they needed my bank acct and password. Since I have never had an Ebay acct, i knew it was a fraud and reported it to Ebay. Strange tho, how many people would just click on the link and give them all they ask for. Can you spell "SUCKER".

Ok. Here's the deal. Someone I know fell for this, and now she cannot sign into her ebay account. What should she do?

EDIT: It seems that she did not supply credit card details, only username and password. Why would a fraudster want a whole load of ebay passwords?

EDIT AGAIN: Forget it. Its all sorted out now!

Gotta love the incredibly crude grammar that seems to come prepackaged with all spam. You think they'd get someone to proofread it!
You can practically gauge based solely on the language whether or not its spam.

nice one, score one for the good guys.
I personally think the people who start these scams should have their hands cut off so they have to do their programming with their noses. f'n nuisances!
