Bill Clinton sleeping during Reagans funeral

Did anyone else see Slick Willie sleeping during Ronald Reagan's funeral. What a friggin disgrace! Margaret Thatcher is very ill and she made it through! I can't believe Hillary hasn't kicked him to the curb yet!

I actually saw them both with their eyes closed. Drudge report has the photo posted. The difference in class and style between Nancy Reagan and the Clintons and Gores were obvious.

Ooh give me a break. Everyone was sleeping. I was watching it. It was a snorefest. The guy sitting DIRECTLY behind Nancy had his head cocked to the side and back. Whoever the hell lady it is behind Hillary was dozing off as well. I betcha Babs and Poppy were sleeping at some point too, Drudge just doesn't care to show it.

Some of those speeches were boring as hell bluster. I was falling asleep and I was in a diner eating a cheesesteak at the time. You all know, of the heads of state who spoke, not one of them was actually WRITTEN by the guy who was speaking them. I can understand having speech writers do pure political speeches and state addresses but this was a personal funeral. You should say your own words there. Not something a professional speech writer thought up. And not go ON and ON for fucking ever. 15 to 20 minute speeches. Christ.

Who cares?

What is really important is the guy behind Clinton. His damn tie is a little unkempt and he opened his jacket. An obvious sign of contempt for Reagan for being so informal!

That's funny as hell. It doesn't matter one bit but it is funny. Now if they could just get shots of when everybody else nodded off and put them into a collage that would be hilarious.

People showed up to pay their respects to Reagan (alright some showed up just so they could appear to be showing respect to him but whatever) there's no need to criticize anyone for falling asleep during a long and boring service.

Agreed, Superbelt. I was watching a bit of it and must say it was pretty boring. Why the hell can't these heads of states at least speak their own words at a funeral? It doesn't make sense.

And we know this how? GHWB appeared to have handwritten looseleaf pages in his hand. It was so unpolished that I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that it was self-authored.

I agree too, I thought it was a great tribute to a great man. Sorry I feel this way, but I think Bill or anyone else that was sleeping could have fought it a little more. I mean, he had to know that the camera was going to be on him a few times seeing how he's the former President and he was right up front. Maybe he just doesn't give a shit!

As I recall, Reagan himself nodded off at a few cabinet meetings? Yeah, I think he'd see the humor in it, and have a little chuckle to himself. Let's try not to politicize everything.

And that would be my guess as well. But that's not as much fun as saying that Billy C. was caught napping at Reagan's funeral. C'mon, let's put the "fun" back in funeral.

"The lady behind them" is, I believe, Betty Ford.

That's Gerald Ford. I really doubt that any disrespect was intended. He's getting a little up there in his years, as well. Buttons may not work as easily as they once did. Give him the benefit of the doubt.

Looks like praying to me. 3 people in the pic, 3 people with their eyes closed. A wider view would be nice.

I did get a kick out of the smirk clinton had on his face through bush's speech, though. Especially at the part where bush mentioned the government "overstepping its bounds". It looks to me that, in this picture, he is trying to suppress that smirk.

Just because they are not kissing his ass like everyone else because he is dead, does not mean they dont have class. If he was alive, it would be Ok, right?

First of all, paying your respects to a deceased President of the United States is not ass kissing. Second, you are damn right those people have no class, standing on a corner holding signs during Reagans funeral saying he is in hell. They are pathetic people that are only interested in shock value, otherwise they would have been doing this while he was alive.

Once again, doesnt make them classless for doing this during his funeral. Maybe he is in hell, he was responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people, was he not? Hey, maybe we should pay our respects to all the child molesters and murderers when they die too. The fact of the matter is, a person does not become perfect just because they die.

Ithought the bling bling hubcaps (rims?) on the entire funeral entourage back in California was excessive. Embarrassing to say the least. Not to mention Bob Dole who was doing 'color commentary' on CNN. Didn't he want to be President some years ago.

I think it is kind of funny that they choose to do this kind of protest. Somebody should tell them you are not going to upset Regan, he's dead. If you wanted to piss off Regan, you would need to do it about ten years back before the Alzheimer's set in. They needed to go back about ten years and hold signs saying "Regan you are going to hell" in the future tense. This would of been significantly more effective in upsetting Regan and would have upset considerably less third parties. I'm not saying Regan is going to hell or is in hell; I'm simply correcting a breech of protest etiquitte.

*was funny, despite the morbid humor*

I think it's disrespectful, yes, but I also know that it can be very difficult to stay awake in a funeral sometimes. Rude, yes, that's done been mentioned and acknowledged, but sometimes the speakers ought as well be singing lullabies. This is further proof that Clinton is, indeed, human.
