What would you have done?

This is just the first couple of paragraphs to an incredibly disturbing road rage incident. An URL for the entire article is listed at the end.

I am at a loss as to how I would have acted had I had the great misfortune to witness this.

The Beginnings of a Savage End
By Ruben Castaneda, Jamie Stockwell and Paul Duggan

The dead man had been pummeled. He lay on the road on his back, his legs splayed, his left arm beneath him, his other arm extended, as if reaching for something. One of his shoes had come off, and his clothes were bloody and disheveled. A medical-alert medallion hung from his neck. He wore dress slacks, a white oxford shirt under a burgundy Redskins sweatshirt and a shiny black loafer on his right foot.

In the waning sunlight, Will Silvers, a Prince George's County homicide detective, pulled on latex gloves and leaned down for a closer look.

The head injuries were multiple and grievous -- the worst beating Silvers had seen, and he'd seen a lot in 13 years. The right foot was oddly angled, and Silvers saw that the attacker had twisted it violently, rending the ankle joint and tearing the flesh. The victim's face was turned to the right, and his eyes were open. Silvers thought he looked surprised.

"I've seen people shot, stabbed, whatever," Silvers said later. "As far as trauma, this was, if not number one, then right up there with number one."

I think I would've called the police with a description and stuff if I had witnessed it. I figure the police and detectives have a job and they do a good job at it so I shouldn't interfere and let them do what they are good at.

the question is what would you do if you saw this right??

well reading the whole article the small guy that was beaten was an alcoholic with twice the legal bac level... the guy who did the beating used pcp a lot...

I woulda contacted the authorities... maybe tried to put a stop to it if i thought i could do it safely...

as for the off duty cop that shot the guy doing the beating i feel he made the right choice... this guy was obviously out of control... and was advancing on the officer in a threatening manner... it might not have been necesary to fatally wound him... but he was there and took action he thought necesary...

If I had seen this, and was in a position to help, and no cops...No doubt I would have helped...I would have done whatever was necesary.

I completely agree with the cop on this one
The man was obviously not mentally sound
This is just a sad story, that that man had to die so brutally and for no reason

I didn't know what to think of this until I read the whole story...... he was a long time user of P.C.P, while that isn't a excuse for his actions it does explain how he could go off the deep end at any time.....

I hope that the person that perpetrated this crime rots for eternity. This is disgusting.
