etymology of the C word

i figured i would post this in the ladies' lounge, because it mostly pertains to us...at least in my opinion.

i found this dissertation online and i thought it was really informative. i thought some of you would enjoy it. also, i've got a question...

how many of you use the word "cunt"? if not, why not? if so, why so?

(sorry, mods, if this isn't alright. if it isn't, take it down by all means.)

BLAH, i forgot to add the URL!

The link has been moved or is in a restricted area. Personally I dislike the word cunt, but I don't think it's because it's degrading, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Vicious, mean spirited images come to mind.

blah, i don't know why it doesn't work here...it works in my favorites. maybe the question mark is what's keeping it from working.

The word really doesn't bother me unless someone called me a cunt in anger. I save that word especially for woman I really can't stand.

Personally I don't really care for the word. I have said it jokingly in the past myself and I certainly don't care if someone says it in fun around me. Its just not a word I choose to say often.

That is the only word that I absolutely hate to hear or say. I cringe when I hear other people say it, and I can't even bring myself to say it.

i just finished reading the book, 'cunt: a declaration of independence' and i have changed my outlook on the word. i normally don't use it and feel weird when i do. cunt used to be a positive term, only turned negative throughout history especially from the inquisition, when religion was based on male power and the fear of women and their sexuality, namely, their cunts. er yeah. good book tho :P
