Theres so much detail. you could spend hours looking at that. Thats some really nice work.

J-DaWg 08-07-2003 05:29 PM

thats incredible. You are quite talented!

Plan9Senior 08-07-2003 07:33 PM

Wow, very nice.

Rogan Bidlow 08-07-2003 10:23 PM

Just the composition I'm looking for! Many thanks

sumrow 08-08-2003 06:01 AM

First one...

Thanks everyone! I start at one point on the paper and keep drawng till it's full. Pen only. No pencil. That makes you think before you draw. If you fuck up...you fix it somehow. The later ones I'm still working on have a kinda "X" compositon to them...

This is the first one I finished...

Pretty neat stuff there...
I like the second page better I think...

You could say I'd think you're improving :)
Keep up the good work, and share!

Jerpitcher 08-08-2003 02:06 PM

That is some good stuff, I agree that there's a lot of detail, it makes you want to look at all of it to see whats happening

wario 08-08-2003 06:37 PM

Whoah. That's just... huh? I mean... cool, really. But still... what?
I LIKE IT!

shalafi 08-08-2003 07:06 PM

holycrapinahat. great job

vermin 08-08-2003 10:13 PM

Cool. I like the way you do the clouds. I've been working on improving my clouds lately cuz they end up either too dark from spending too much time on them or unrecognizable as clouds.

striderkevin 08-09-2003 04:12 PM

Great artwork there, keep up the good work!

killerjoejoe 08-09-2003 09:26 PM

Dude...thats pertty cool

marshall26 08-10-2003 12:47 AM

very fucking cool. looks like album cover art

sumrow 08-11-2003 06:25 AM

Yo! Thanks everyone!! Nice to get feedback. Obviously I get my influences from Robert Williams, Crumb, De Cherico, Bosch, etc.. Glad to see others enjoying them. I had a great time drawing them.

analinguist 08-12-2003 06:39 PM

excellent stuff, very chaotic.. it reminds me of something that i've seen before but can't quite think of exactly what it is.. maybe i'll get back to you on it.

jhericurl21 08-12-2003 07:58 PM

trippy, dont know where to start or where it ends

unityofmulti 08-14-2003 05:54 AM

I tried some similar stuff, but yours is just on another level !

Thanks for sharing,
Jörn

GSRIDER 08-15-2003 09:50 AM

thre a lot of crumb and williams in your art

Double D 08-15-2003 09:54 AM

Nice work!
Obviously much time & effort went into it.

I love art pieces that I can keep coming back to and find something that I'd missed previously.

sumrow 08-15-2003 11:02 AM

GSRider,

Yes, I love Crumb, Robert Williams, Kandinsky, De Chirico, etc.. I have a half dozen more at various stages of completion. I'll keep posting em as they get done...

08-16-2003 06:46 AM

damn, it took me like twenty minutes to find Waldo! heh

dlc5000000 08-19-2003 09:34 PM

looks awesome. nice line work

anti fishstick 08-20-2003 12:27 AM

wow! that's just pen work??

isandro 08-20-2003 12:57 AM

How about scanning that hi-rez, printing it on poster format and mailing it to my house? :)

analinguist 08-20-2003 03:45 AM

yeah, i'm thinking crumb.. that is what i was thinking earlier.

sumrow 08-20-2003 06:13 AM

FYI: The originals are just 9" x 12" sketchbook pages. I use a "Pilot V Razor Point (Extra Fine)". Great pens!! Unfortunatley they are not waterproof. So colorizing these with watercolor is not an option.

A Link to more of my stuff...

Thanks again for everyones feedback. I havn't drawn or painted since 1994. I got out of it for ten years, don't really understand why. I'm trying to form a new habbit of drawing every few days.

Thanks again for the feedback!!

isandro, there are high-res versions in my gallery... hint hint... ;)

bernadette 08-20-2003 02:52 PM

whoa! that's some awesome stuff

what kind of pen & ink do you use?

do you sell prints of your work?

sumrow 08-20-2003 03:00 PM

Prints?

"Pilot V Razor Point (Extra Fine)" is the weapon of choice. I'll be switching back to an old school "Crow Quill and Speedball Black india" when I feel I've done enough of this farting around... and want to move on to actually "finished pieces".

I use "Pilot V Razor Point" because they are good pens and you can draw for days without them running out. However it's not the pen that makes the art. ;)

I've thought about putting a few of these on Zazzle.com as prints. Maybe after I've drawn something worth a crap. These are just "exploratory doodling".

sumrow 08-26-2003 08:54 AM

Another page finished...

Number 3. Fries are up!!

rrf 08-27-2003 08:30 PM

wow...
thats really cool man
i cant even fathom drawing something like that

analinguist 08-28-2003 05:32 AM

interesting multiperspective on the bottom left of the last one. it reminds me of chinese landscape painting on lsd.

Silvy 08-28-2003 05:40 AM

Man, you make great drawings!
And a great variety of objects too!

keep up the good work... ever thought of going pro?

sumrow 08-29-2003 07:05 AM

rrf: I couldn't either, until I just decided to start drawing again one day. It's been 10 years since I had the spark.

Analinguist: Thanks!! I'm really not trying to "plan" these. Planning will happen down the road. Right now I just want to explore the paper and see what pops out.

Silvy: Thank you! I'm a graphic deisgner by trade. However I have been in a long state of inaction when it comes to personal work. My goals now are to keep drawing a little every day and see what happens. :D

clavus 08-29-2003 10:03 PM

cool cyclopse!
