Looking for an artist

I'm looking for an artist (any kind) with pieces that consist of only one color, but of several different tones, i.e., everything is purple with indigo or dark purple. Any help is appreciated.

Do you want a specific artist, or do you just need pieces?

I'd recommend Georgia O'Keefe. Pretty flower paintings.

Chuck Close did a number of pieces that are different shades of gray.

Maybe Pablo Picasso (during his blue period)?

or Chagall? He used monochromatics quite a bit

Monochromatic, that's the word I was looking for. I think I will look at Chuck Close some more, but is are there any leaders of Monochromatic mixed media?

at the same time picasso was doing his thing, Juan Gris was putting out some nice monochromatic collages - mostly shades of brown. at times, the two artists' works was indistinguishable.

Alberto Reguera (Spanish) or maybe Mark Rothko?

Reguera work:

Rothko work:

Also, Jacques Monory (French) does all his works in shades of blue:

I'm not quite sure what you're searching for but a good place to start is with Colour Field artists, like Mark Rothko or Barnett Newman. Also look at Malevich and Yves Klein's work for monochromatic art.

I did a quick search and this article on an art exhibition called "Monochromatic Mostly" that might be of interest came up.
