I was supposed to be packing for the wedding.

I decided to draw my head instead.

I give you head! haha... I'm so tired... :hmm:

That's REALLY nice!

Looks kinda like Illustrator?

cellophanedeity 09-15-2005 08:15 PM

Yup, done in Illustrator.

I'm glad you like it. :)

It really does look like your head - even down to the way it falls

Nice job... now get packin! :p

It's quite simple really,

Take a photograph and import it into Illustrator. Then pick out any lines or blotches of colour that look important and trace them. Then select the colour by using the eyedropper tool. The only part that takes much skill at all is deciding which lines are worth keeping, and which can be left out.

Looking good, but watch out on the ends (corners) of some of the paths, you're getting some "looping" of the path. This is caused by the handles going beyond the end anchorpoint and the path crosses itself. I only see a few of them (in the hair, near your chin).

If you have version CS2, look into the live trace tool. It will make you sick.

Yah, I was having some issues with that, but I figured I could let it slip. This was more for fun and practice than for art.

I figure that when I go back and change some things (the bottom of the hair needs more detailing) I'll probably fix up the loops as well.

Thanks for pointing out where it's most noticeable. :)

BTW, I wasn't trying to be an ass, just giving some constructive criticism. Sometimes it's difficult to offer a suggestion for improvement without sounding harsh...

That's awesome, Cello!!! How long did it take you?

ophelia783 09-16-2005 11:30 AM

Very cool.

Oh, I know! I didn't even think that. I really appreciate constructive criticism.

The piece took me just over an hour, which sort of explains the lazy loops.

I really need to get out of PS and into illustrator. Nice work :)
