ummmm after watching the screener.... I'm uncomfortable sitting down. I hope that Christian Bale can redeem the lost franchise after the T3 crapfest.

I liked T3, and this sounds interesting as well. This will probably be in the "might watch someday as a rental" category along with both recent Batman films and Pulp Fiction (less likely on that last one though).

I saw the trailer for this before Watchmen and enjoyed it. Of course, Christian Bale makes me drool. Christian Bale wielding big guns...it's almost too much for me to bear.

Yes, I'm glad I saw The Dark Night in Imax, and I plan to build something close to a theater in my future-maybe-one-day dreamhouse, with a big ass projector and speakers everywhere you look, just for these kinds of movies.
Plus, they're not all visuals, they have great music, sound, and story.

oooh this looks pretty interesting. I agree that Christian Bale makes it better. Did you know Helena Bonham Carter is in it? She is bizarre. That should be interesting.

Ugh, Terminator 3 was a total crapfest. Plot continuity? Who CARES!? Actors? College kids paid with pizza and beer.
T3 had a campy B-flick feel to it. It tried to be funny at times and a movie called TERMINATOR shouldn't be funny. ... Despite having Christian "I'm white Jesus with fabulous cheekbones" Bale, the plot needs to be dark and moody to make it work. |

Yeah, T3 was pretty sad.
I'm kind of OK with the general idea of T3: you can delay the future, but not change what is destined (though this brings up obvious spiritual implications which I'm not sure belong in the Terminator universe), but the execution wasn't good at all. I am hopeful for Terminator: Salvation, and I fully admit part of that is because I worship Christian Bale (damn right he's Jesus, Crompsin!). Aside for that, there's great potential in a movie series about the war against the machines. It definitely needs to be dark and moody, and it seems we're going to get that.

Haha, yeah, that was horrendous.
Speaking of no concern for plot continuity and bad things in the Terminator universe, I don't care how good The Sarah Connor Chronicles may be (I've heard it's supposed to be good), it makes absolutely no sense within the context of the movies that have been made.

For anybody that is as huge a Terminator nerd as I am:
Terminator Wiki I spent like 3 hours on this one night. Ate it right up. Some of the stuff "left out" of T3 was interesting. |

plot continuity is not a big concern for these guys from one movie to the next to the tv show to the next movie. so much changes in the time line of each entry that the future is in constant flux. they can do anything they want in the history of the future war with the machines and just say, well, this happened that we didnt show you and it led to this.

As far as I can tell there are now like 3 different Terminator timelines, branching after T2. T1 -> T2 - The James Cameron arc. As far as Cameron is concerned the story ends here with the war averted and Skynet never coming into being. T1 -> T2 ->T3->Salvation(although apparently much of T3 will be retconned or glossed over in Salvation) T1 -> T2 -> SCC |
