Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage

I like listening to Rush but am not a hardcore fan. Never seen them perform live but I know that my best friend loves them since we've been in high school.

I remember the first Rush song I heard Tom Sawyer when I was visiting NYC as a kid. My uncle was listening to some vinyl, Rush Moving Pictures and AC/DC Hells Bells, I was just blown away by both albums.

Red Barchetta was something that I also liked, but never listened to the words as I found that Tom Sawyer lyrics. One day as I was driving the canyons of Los Angeles the song came on and I heard the story of the young man driving his uncle's car that has been kept for 50 odd years.

The Limelight was something I also didn't pay attention to the lyrics and what they meant but found that when in high school learning Shakespeare it all circled back.

I'm hoping that even if I don't get the chance to see this in the theater with my buddy this summer, maybe when we're together we'd get to spend some time in the home theater watching something from our childhood and connecting at it in a very different level where I assume like most of these kinds of movies tend to show the connectedness with the band at the center stage.

With that said...

Dude, I love music documentaries and I love Rush. This movie's going to rock!

I'm not sure when I first heard Rush because they're one of the bands I grew up on. I've always been fascinated with them, though. They're just incredible musicians that make music like nobody else.

Can't wait to see this.

I have a list of "must see" see bands, most of which have a check mark next to them:

The Police (twice)
Kiss (4 times)
The Who
Paul McCartney
Ringo Starr
Eric Clapton
Blues Traveler
The Beach Boys
Van Halen (twice)
Barenaked Ladies (7 times)
Bob Seger (4 times)
Iron Maiden (this summer with Dream Theater)

But Rush - sadly I have not seen yet. Every time I've had the chance, "something" has come up. I WILL see them on the next tour. NO MATTER WHAT!!!

I will see this movie too!!

I've seen Rush twice. Even if you only think they're ok, you need to see them live.

I am way excited about this movie, I can't even begin to describe how much the music of Rush has shaped my life.
