SNL although their new stuff is really stupid, the older stuff still makes me laugh, and laugh hard.

mad tv does the same stuff and is annoying

The way I see it -

SNL is the better show. But the problem is that they are wildly INCONSISTANT. They have major suck periods (aka the 2002-2003 season) and some major good periods (aka the 2000-2002 seasons). They have the cast, and the writers, but sometimes they just cannot hold their chins up with good material.

MADTV on the other hand, is the one I actually watch. They are consistantly funny, although I rarely laugh as much as I do when SNL is having a good season. I watch MADTV because I can expect to have a good time, and I am very rarely ever shown a bad show. Thumbs up to Will Sasso (left show) and Amanda Borstein (left show), because they are my favorite cast members EVER on madTV

Iwatch MAD TV more than I watch SNL. The only redeeming part of SNL is weekend update, mainly because of Tina Fey. She's a hottie.

We used to have this joke at my work, when someone says something really stupid.

"With a mouth like that, you could become a writer for SNL!"

MADTV hands down, is a better show.

Whenever I tune into MAD TV, there seems to be a sketch involving one of the terribly annoying recurring characters they've had for the past 5 years. SNL isn't much better though, and the cast has suffered with the loss of Will Ferrell, and they don't give Tracy Morgan enough time.

SNL. not the new stuff, but stuff like celebrity jeopardy. It doesn't get any better than that.

while snl isn't always consistent, mad tv just isn't very good. the sketches always drag on for twice as long as they should. and its not like the sketches are overly funny or original to start with. snl comes up with the stuff that makes me laugh, so that's why i'd rather watch it

SNL was the funnier one for a long time. However, SNL started to suck while Mad TV was just as funny, if not more. But SNL wins my vote with it's track record.

The most annoying part of watching SNL is how the hosts apparently don't prep for the show the way they did in the old days. Watch them look off the stage VERY OBVIOUSLY reading the cue cards. Maybe back in the 70's and 80's they were reading cards too, but it just wasn't as obvious. I don't blame it on the actors, I blame it on the show for apparently not giving them enough rehearsal time.

That said, I like SNL's cast better. Except Jimmy Fallon. He grates on my nerves. MadTV has had some great skits but most of their best cast members have moved on. Stuart, Miss Swan, and the Vancome Lady were my favorites.

I have to vote for SNL, though I don't watch either anymore. I am with a lot of people here in thinking that Mad TV is just too annoying. There is no subtlety in their humor and I hate watching people make a complete ass of themselves for an hour and expect me to like watching it… Although I haven’t found much to appreciate about SNL recently either, at least SNL has some classics like Celebrity Jeopardy, Church Lady, most all Weekend Updates, etc.

I can't really stand to watch either these days. I loved SNL in the Mike Myers/Dana Carvey days, and thought Mad TV was good the first season or two. These days, the Trading Spaces midnight rerun is funnier.

It's smarter comedy. Rather than trying to hook you with cheap laughs, its a bit deeper. The political commentary is unmatched.

Exactly. MadTV may be cool for retarded ghetto children but not for any intelligent person. SNL is just hillarious, MadTV is pure crap.

I agree with twiztid and meanSpleen about Will Sasso. All of
his impressions were hillarious, especially his Steven Segal and
James Gandolfini. I stopped watching after he left, and just
tried it again a couple weeks ago and found it unwatchable

Haven't watched Mad TV since Artie Lang was on...and I only ocassionally tune into SNL [although I search out the reruns fron the 70's and a few other seasons whenever I can] and it can be funny depending on the host and if they are having a good night...
