The Butterfly Effect (SPOILERS!)

I saw it last night and LOVED it!.

Only problem is that I didn't quite get the ending. I mean I got the fact that his blackouts during his childhood is because of the time travelling that is already taking place and I got the fact that he had to scare Kayleigh off at his birthday party as a kid so she'd hate him and move in with her mother instead and thus preventing all the horrible things that are about to happen. But why, WHY, does he still refrain from talking to her in the present when he sees her on the streets?

I haven't read the book, but I believe it ends with him going after her.

I think it was sort of a "don't screw anything up" thing... he couldn't get it right until he took her out of his life, who know what would happen if he tried to "get her back," so to speak.

What bothered me was that he had memories of Kayleigh and her brother with their mom...when he never would've seen them together.

Also, about the blackouts... were the blackouts there to enable him to go back, or were they the product of him going back? hmmmm....

the blackouts were the product of him going back. Because how would he "know" in his childhood that when the blackouts take place that it would be the perfect moment to go back in time? They have to be the product of his future choice of when he'd go back an try and change things.

I pretty much figured too that he thought that things would get messed up again if he let her back into his life but I just asked in case that I overlooked something in the movie.

he has memories of Kayleigh and Tommy with her mother despite that he'd never meet them? hmmm I'll have to see it again because I can't remember that

Don't discount the movie just because of Asston Kutcher. He actually manages to pull some acting out of his ass in this one, and does quite well...in as much as I hate to admit it.

It's at the very end, after he tells her all the mean stuff at the party. When he "comes back" and does the "these are your new memories" thing, it shows Kayleigh and Tommy hugging their mom, at a birthday party or something with her, and a few other scenes.
