The media hype surrounding these books is funny to watch. They are terrific, so I can understand.

This guy is just being a dick. |
I dont know if any of you have ever seen this....but I saw it the morning and laughed so hard I hurt (you have to understand how much I love Snape....and Alan Rickman playing him just makes him all that much better!!)
anyway something cute (and stupid) I thought I'd share http://www.potterpuppetpals.com/sexy.swf |
Shani that is just awesome! hehe! I have a feeling I'll be at Meijer's or Kroger's to get my book tonight after I go see a friends Dad's band play and wish fairwell to another friend who's leaving for Germany for 6 months to make what my hubby makes in a year....I could just shoot him!
The worst part is, it's supposed to be my b-day pressie (the 19th is my b-day) but I get to go pick it up ;) |
13 hours, 59 minutes.
I can't wait!! I painted my toenails alternating shades of red and gold. The person going with me, E, has purple with green lightning bolts. I'm pretty excited, and enjoying being a dork! Face painting, here I come! SnowyOwl, I hope to be done by 7p... but I won't be, because I know I won't be left alone enough to be. :( It's okay, I'll persevere. |
Nice, Shani. While we're fooling around, how about Harry Potter Vs Badger Badger?
|
*puts on her Slytherin t-shirt*
I'm ready...14 hours and 47 minutes till I get to go to Borders. Seriously, I'm not planning on staying around for any of the festivities. No, I'm going to take that book home and just read... |
Oh, that sexy Snape thing was fantastic!
I especially love the Snapes dancing in the background. 12 1/2 hours to go until I get my very own copy!! |
A warning to you all, don't visit YTMND until you've read the book. I hate the internet.
|
1 hour 40 minutes!!!!
|
its out!!! whos got it???
|
Ok i might go get it tonight.. and read it all night til my wife has to go to work... we've already discussed her doing the driving tomorrow when we go visit her parents.... so I can read it to her while driving.
|
my brother is gonna have it as soon as its out in cali... doing the midnight thing and all...
i'll read it when i get home, whether he's done with it or not... gotta really rush thru the end of the book i'm trudging through right now tho... |
it came out here at 7:01am...
i had to start work at 7... grrr!!! i'll have to wade through the kids after work to pick up my copy... |
I've got it!!! Read about 100 pages, HUGE revelation in the second chapter (or is it...)... Starts off with a bang and then slows down a bit.
Spoiler: I love how Harry talks to Narcissa at Madam Malkin's |
Just got back about 20 minutes ago with my very own copy.
The party thing at the local Hastings was pretty lame, I have to say. Although the number of adults and teenagers in line for the book was really surprising. Even had some folks dressed up in their 'wizard' gear along with a fellow with a pretty convincing Hagrid costume Gotta go....gotta read! |
Skogafoss gets her free employee copy on Monday. Unlike last release when she worked for an executive and she was able to get multiple copies a day or two before hand. Still, I don't do hype anymore.
Here's what they had going on at the main Scholastic offices...where the employees got to frolic in the afternoon, it was open to the public at 8pm-11pm Harry Potter Place I forgot to say NOTE that they dubbed it Harry Potter Place, and not Diagon Alley which is trademarked with rights going to Warner Bros. All because one executive gave the movie rights away to Warner Bros. |
Got it!
LET THE READING BEGIN. |
I read the first one. MEH! It would have been good if I was 20 years younger. MEH, I say, MEH!
|
My girlfriend got it this morning and made this observation that Harry's scar is in between his eyes on the cover ... like Manson.
Shouldn't it be to one of the sides of his forhead? Or is that how the movie is and she has the two media mixed up? http://www.veritaserum.com/books/boo...r-britkids.jpg |
That's an interesting cover, Loup. I have never seen it.
I reserved a book two days ago. I was going to wait for the paperback to come out, because all the other ones I have are paperback. However, I did not want anyone ruining it for me by letting something slip. So I reserved it. A friend of mine reserved it two months ago and got her call, so I figured that my book was probably two or three shipments away. I drove by B&N and decided not even to try it. Then an idea struck me, and I went into the Hy-Vee (grocery store) accross the parking lot. I was in and out in five minutes with my new book, and it was only $1 more. That was smart, I told myself. I would have liked to go to a Potterparty, but I had just seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and I had had enough children for the night. |
I've read about six chapters...oh, the bombshells that have been dropped....
|
according to Skogafoss that is the UK cover... the US cover is green and different art.
I've always liked the Bloomsbury (UK) editions vs. the cheaper Scholastic (US) editions. |
Finished.
Excellent. Unbelievable. Jaw-dropping. Sometimes I wonder what other thoughts are going on inside JK Rowling's head. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming. |
Finished too. Whoa. *stunned*

skogafoss rants about those differences all the time since the UK market wants to normally change the words for only 1,000 units which is usually not profitable nor possible. |
Finished in a little over 6 hours of reading time....
Yep... The middle was fairly plain, like the rest of the books, but those last 3 chapters.... WOW Definitely didnt see that coming... |
