Farewell MGM and United Arts.

Ok. I am quite confused about this. I have been hearing things about MGM and United Arts going bye-bye. Is this for REAL??? Can the companies that brought us Wizard of Oz, Ben-Hur, 2001: A Space Odysse, Apocalypse Now, etc. be going down the drain?

How can this be? I am shocked about this. Someone please provide news links to this so I can get more info on this. I will be moving down to Disney World for several months. What affect, if any, will this have on MGM Studios?

Sony is buying the studio but while they will own it the studio will still be called MGM and the Lion will still roar at the beginning of MGM films...

The companies as we know it will go away, but the brand name will remain the same.

Just as MGM swallowed UA, now MGM/UA is being swallowed by Sony. Just think how big the zaibatsu will be that will swallow Sony...

Be afraid. Be very afraid.
