Mind of Mencia
I'm a bit disappointed (whether rightly so or not) that there is so little mention about this show on the TFP. I watched a marathon of this show last night and it was also my first time watching the show, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. True, the majority of his jokes have to do with race, and some people may be tired of that issue, but for people who are minorities, it never stops. If you're a minority, you're never going to stop being one, and you're never going to stop having to deal with the issues related to being a minority, and you will probably always find race-related jokes funny, especially those about your race. Well, that's the case for me anyways. I know Carlos Mencia's comedy isn't for everyone, but it certainly is for me, 100%.

He has his funny points, like all of todays comedians. But to be honest.....I personally avoid anything that plays on Race Relations and the three times I have seen his show, that was pretty much the majority of his material. Pity, cause he IS funny.

He's not even remotely trying to replace Chappelle. He's had that exact same style of comedy *way* before the Chappelle show existed. And Chapelle's style is more laidback, whereas Mencia's style is extremely intense. You can't compare apples and oranges beyond the fact that they're both round.

I saw him for the first time the other night at a friend's house. He had me in stiches; I thought he was very funny.
But after 10 minutes, I was tired. He started to give me a headache. The intensity is...too intense (oddly enough) and doesn't let up. It's too loud.

I've never been impressed by Mencia at all.
Case in point: He had a skit on his show poking fun at all the different locales for "CSI" spinoffs, and he did one that was "CSI: Kentucky" and he made fun of rednecks. It was outdated, and felt like a ripoff of Jeff Foxworthy, who was never that funny to begin with. The other "CSI" incarnations were just as lame. It feels like people like him as a result of "he's cool becaus he's angry and tellin' it like it is!" but anger doesn't necessarily mean it's funny. Look at somebody like Zach Galifianakis, he's really chill, but he's hilarious.

What I liked about him was his delivery. I thought it was really tight and well timed. His facial expressions, gestures were well choreagraphed too.
Unfortunately for us slowpokes, after about 10-15 minutes, we get lost amongst the din. I couldn't keep up. I can see if the material is the same, then after a while you would need to move on. Race gets really old really quick.
