I always wanted one as a kid, but for whatever reason we never got one.
The commercials made them look very fun.

I ran across this link on fark one day.
Some guy created a Spirograph java applet that's too cool for school.

Scroll down the page and use the slides to adjust the graph parameters to whatever patterns you like.

Ah, it isn't realistic, there's no way to make the pen skip when you are almost done, destroying all of your hard work. Also, there's no pin pricks in the sheet.
