Gametap - Anybody Try it?

I just started a free trial of GameTap. For those unfamiliar, here's the description from their website:

Quote:

GameTap gives you unlimited access to hundreds of the world’s greatest videogames, all through your broadband PC. Console games, arcade classics, modern PC hits and even brand new exclusive titles—GameTap has them, and all for one low monthly fee. It’s easy to use, and no special hardware is required—just the broadband PC you already own. With new games added every week, GameTap is an unparalleled collection of classic, new and exclusive videogames!
I'm usually about 2 or 3 years behind the game curve, so this service is just about right for me. I was actually surprised by home up-to-date some of their games are, with some titles from 2005 and 2006 (though obviously not the top sellers).

I'm still wondering if its worth the monthly fee. Does anyone have experience with GameTap? Do they actually add new titles with any frequency?

There's a good reason why no one should use Gametap: they advertise very heavily on Little Green Footballs, one of the sickest right-wing hate-filled reactionary blogs on the web. In fact, it wouldn't hurt for people to email Gametap and tell them that you'd never belong to a service that advertises in a place like that.

lol, I dont think thats what he was asking. Anyhow, I have never used gametap, I used gamefly and that was pretty cool, but I found that 9 times out of 10 my rented game would just sit there while I played ones that I bought already

If you are looking for arcade classics and a good deal of console games, you should look into running MAME on your PC. 100% free shareware and ROMS are free to download. If you are real handy, you can even build an arcade cabinet and real arcade controlls. Mine is currently in pieces from our move, but I'll post pix once I put it back together.

I don't know if Gametap is worth it but man they have some high quality, in-your-face commercials.

Sorry, I had to. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

I actually do subscribe to Gametap, and I'll admit it's a LOT of fun. They have all kinds of cool games. Looking through their library of games really brings back a lot of memories. Just some of the games I've played on Gametap include:

-Kings Quest I, II, III, IV, V
-The Adventures of Willy Beamish
-Space Quest I, II, III
-1942
-Rampage
-Altered Beast
-Zork
-Myst

Ah hell, there's too many to list. The best is when I'm a little drunk (or really drunk) and I'm bored. I just load up Gametap and have at it. I'm easily entertained for at least 2 hours, lol.

All in all, for the price and library, Gametap is a great experience, I don't regret it at all.
