Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters game in the works?

Occassionally, after running through the usual suspects--digg.com, /. and the like--I will wonder over to destructoid.com

Today, I'm glad I did.

Could it be? A new video game based on the Ivan Reitman classic, Ghostbusters?

Videos that appeared online today indicate that a Ghostbusters title may be in the works. Credited to European developer Zootfly (Panzer Elite Action: Fields of Glory), the videos appear to either be test or proposal footage for a Ghostbusters video game. A little investigation done on the Ghostbusters.net message board revealed a PDF that detailed financial information for Zootfly, as well as a promo image for the game.

Whether these are real or fake is unclear, but we've contacted Zootfly for further clarification on the project, and will keep you updated if we hear anything new. In the meantime, hit the jump for some more videos.

Check out this link for a couple of videos

Just looking at the video, I hyperventiliated a little bit. I mean, it's the Ghostbusters, one of the greatest movies ever, with a very Gears of War feel to it, yes?

If this is true and there is indeed a Ghostbusters video game on the horizon...Well, gosh..I think that'd just about make my year.

Where is the humor ? It just looks like another boring shoot-em up. I think I will give it a miss. As nicely reminded by Shakran if I want to play Ghostbusters I'll dig out my old commodore 64

If this game is as lame as the movies were, I'll pass.

Don't cross the streams. It would be bad.

Well, the theory is that this is just a proposal pitch...to see what they could do, which would explain the clips' sound and such. But you're right, if this is a real Ghostbusters game, it's going to have to be funny.

BLASPHEMER!

I surely thought there were some fellow Ghostbuster fans on the board all things considered. Guess I was wrong?

naw, I was just joking. If they do it right I'll buy it the day it comes out. The question is whether they'll do it right since so many games are crap these days.

True, but there's a lot more of it these days. Too many game designers think all they have to do is make enough eye candy and we'll all forget about this funny little thing called plot or gameplay. Used to be you'd buy a game and it'd take you weeks to finish it. I finished the last Tomb Raider in about 9 hours. Great graphics, good gameplay while it lasted, way too short and simple.

Maybe they can make a Back to the Future game, too. And while they're at it, let's make Scrooged. Meh.

Been done Will:
