Homeworld 2

WOHOO there is a demo out and it plays sooooo good, i loved Homeworld 1 and then Cataclysm was even greater, i am really looking forward to this one :)

the demo can be downloaded from fileplanet :)

nothing better as giant space ships ripping the shit out of each other :)

panbert 09-04-2003 05:33 AM

I loved Homeworld, but I never finished it.
Hope HomeWorld 2 will be as good (or better) and hope I'll have time to play & finish this one.

cradeg 09-04-2003 08:11 AM

i love the visuals :) ... this game gfx rocks ... reminds me on the great battles of star wars or babylon 5 .)

Arc101 09-04-2003 08:58 AM

I've tried playing Homeworld a few times but could never get into it. Maybe Homeworld2 will be a lot better.

Mr. Mojo 09-04-2003 10:57 AM

Heres the home page - LINKY

download the trailer, the game sure looks purty...

I never got past the Cataclysm extension pack, that was hard!

cradeg 09-04-2003 11:38 AM

:)

oh man cataclysm was soooo great , nothing better as when a rocket corvett takes down a full squad of enemy fighters :)

Easytiger 09-04-2003 10:18 PM

Just tell me that you can increase the speed of the game if you want, and also tell me that you can SAVE THE DAMN GAME whenever you like, and I'm in!
I loved Homeworld, but I never finished it. It wasn't just the difficulty of it, it was the agony of sitting there and waiting endlessly while you gathered resources and built up your fleet.

cradeg 09-05-2003 03:29 AM

well

to see the difference i reinstalled Homeworld to see it again , well its alot mor ugly then Homeworld 2 demo but still nice ;) ... i started it again ... it so much peace in space with the music and your ships killing all other things ..

its an classic :)

dillPickle 09-05-2003 07:10 AM

I dont like the new interface. I think they tried to simplify it so much that the 1st game players like myself will have some adjustment issues

NeverBorn 09-05-2003 08:24 AM

Homeworld is one of my all time favorite games..can't wait for the sequal

geeky 09-05-2003 06:45 PM

I agree. The Homeworld series is great. This is one of the few games that I actually felt like I was in space. TONS of emptiness.
Sure its relatively slow but when the shit hits the fan, it sure is spectacular.
Its been a while since I played... Can you mod the game? A StarWars or Battlestar Galactica mod would be great to see.

happyjack 09-05-2003 10:48 PM

yeah, you can mod the game, try searching google for homeworld universe.com, dunno if they're back up, but they have links to various mods, tried a few myself. Some are star wars, others star trek, and there was one that let you play as pirates, creating new ships and adding in tidanni vessels to fill up the fleet. It was a really cool mod, brand spanking new mothership. Anyways, Homeworld 2 looks great, i hope to get the game and beat it, though i never finished either teh original or cataclysm

cradeg 09-05-2003 11:31 PM

I first played Cataclysm , and finished it .. then i tried Homeworld 1 but did not make it faar , and now aftwe years i have a good feeling about finishing it :))) ....

i am currently in the mission where the alien ship captures all your capital ships if you come to close , time for bombers :)))

i really enjoy it , and guess what .. as soon i finish Homeworld 1 i install Halflife again :)

firebirdta 09-07-2003 05:36 PM

I really loved Homeworld, and thought Cataclysm was a decent "sequel." I am really looking forward to Homeworld 2. Now if I can only convince my friends to play it with me....

Mr. Mojo 09-09-2003 08:40 AM

I'm now about half way through Cataclysm now. I'm cheating…I printed out a walk-through. Don't judge me, I just want to finish it!
Cataclysm so far, is all about fighters and light corvettes. I just stole a nice Tidian Heavy Cruiser - time to kill

twister002 09-11-2003 05:16 PM

A while ago they released two Homeworld type games called Hedgemonia and O.R.B.. Both were pretty good, recently they've lowered the price of O.R.B. to $9.99. It's a good deal for a good game.

Mr. Mojo 09-12-2003 09:56 AM

What a great game… I cant wait to get the sequel

I loved Homeworld but I never could figure the thing out. I'd show up, gather resources, create a couple ships then... The bastards would show up, destroy all the ships I just created and I'd die. I really get into games like C&C and the like but this game pissed me off.

BuddyHawks 09-15-2003 07:22 PM

I tried Homeworld and got too frustrated at about the fourth mission. Maybe I'll try it again. I'd like to get the whole story before I try Homeworld 2.

Frozen North 09-15-2003 11:39 PM

Homeworld and Homeworld: Cataclysm were both great games. I remember being so annoyed with myself when I used a trainer to beat the last few levelsof the first and it took me until after I beat Cataclysm to go back and do it right. I know a lot of people who have been pushing Sierra and Relic to do a sequel, which seemed very unlikely at the time, and I was really happy when they finally decided to go with it.

Is there anyone here that beat Homeworld without getting a crush on Karan S'Jet (Fleet Command voice)? ;)

flamingdog 09-16-2003 10:59 AM

I prefer the guy who gives you your mission objectives.

I've just reinstalled Homeworld, and I can't fucking play it for love nor money. Everytime I try anything, I get my ass handed to me.

The sequel seems a lot simpler and a lot more streamlined, which might come at the expense of strategy... I dunno.

Also, I don't like the fact that you can't zoom in on just ONE ship and admire it in all its glory, then zoom out till it's a pinprick dwarfed by the mothership. At least, I haven't found out how to do that yet.

But did anyone else think the glimpse of the new story we got seems to be a bit of a rehash of the first? Like those first two missions you play in the demo seem extremely similar to the first two missions in the first game.

Mr.Deflok 09-16-2003 12:57 PM

I downloaded the demo last night, found it rather tedious, but there's no denying how beautiful it looks.

Frozen North 09-16-2003 03:28 PM

To hell with fileplanet!

Better link or List of links.

Strelich 09-17-2003 05:34 PM

I'm pretty much sold on this game. It's everything I liked and a fair bit more.

healyk 09-26-2003 06:51 PM

I played HW, Cataclysm, and am in the middle of HW2. Loved the first two, and so far HW2 was lived up to my expectations, though it feels a bit more like an expansion than a full blown sequel.

The only quibble I have has to do with the limited formation options in the sequel. I used to love using the sphere formation to defend my capital ships.

I can't seem to get my resource collectors to automatically repair ships. I set them to 'guard' and they follow along but don't actually repair damaged ships. What did I miss?

hansthemolemann 09-26-2003 10:49 PM

For some reason I never bought the first homeworld even though I loved the demo, but I'll definetly pick it up this time around
