SAVAGE

Has anyone checked out Savage yet? It looks really cool --> http://www.s2games.com/savage/downloads.html
It's a FPS , RTS hybrid. I havn't played it (I'll wait and read some reviews first) but I'm looking forward to. There is a gameplay trailer at the site.

The gameplay trailer looks good and IGN gave it a favorable review. It might be an interesting purchase.

I've had fun playing it, so far but it is not as fun as BF 1942 or SWG (even though it is buggy). Also has a few little bugs itself, i would give it some time to drop in price and work the bugs out. A great concept though.

Trilidon and I are going to be downloading (legally) this tonight and trying it tomorrow, so look for a more thorough review then. From the info on the webpage, it looks a lot like the "Natural Selection" mod for Half-Life.

I bought the CD key off igames and started playing it tonight. This game seriously kicks some butt. Its a lot of fun, its challenging, and it actually takes skill to be good at. The concept of FPS, a fighting game and RTS is awesome. Its really well thought out, and the gameplay is solid thus far. Keep in mind that its only 40 bucks, no monthly fee and its just been released. This is the first game ive bought in awhile, and im definitley glad I made the purchase. Highly recommended.

Ok, I downloaded and tried it tonight, and it is great.

If you have played the Half-Life mod "Natural Selection" you will be right at home in Savage. It's the same basic idea to a point, one person (the "commander") experiences a Warcrafty RTS-view and commands "units" which = everyone else. If you are a "unit" you play in a FPS mode, and it plays roughly like Quake/Enemy Territory would. FPS users can build structures that the commander lays down, use different weapons depending on what the commander researches, upgrade "class", etc. It's quite a well thought out and developed game.

I think it plays a ton better than natural selection, but I haven't played that game in a while.

It's pretty good. When you get two balanced teams together games can last a good 1-2 hours. It's a fun time sink.

Gamespot gave it a 6.7 but the review was pulled when it was found that Gamespot's reviewer played the game for too few hours to make a worthy review. Funny reading all the Savage fanboys and Gamespot fanboys going at it on Gamespot's forums.

Sounds like a very interesting game...
But no store here has even heard of it yet. Can anyone guess as to when it is coming to Europe?

I could buy and download from their server, but if it's not for sale here not many server with good pings will be available I reckon. (plus I don't have a CC yet)

I got this game yesterday and it's awesome, I find it EXTREMELY fun. I havn't tried being a commander yet, seems pretty complicated, if you don't have a good one you basically are screwed.

Can you play on one team against a computer controlled team? Or is it strictly human vs human?

I played the BETA for like 2 months. The game was awesome.
One of the things that can make or break the game for you is a good commander. Having someone who is good at Age of Empire/Warcraft type games is a must. If the Commander does not build and upgrade things in a timely and effective manner then you are doomed to fail. Then again it is up to the FPS'ers to gather the resources for the commander to upgrade equipment. This is only a problem when everyone on your team is a CS addict and goes straight for the kills instead of gathering resources.

Graphics were nothing that have not been seen before but the incorperation of the FPS and Strategy game into one make for a new challenge in teamwork.

My friend is very into it. He says the only flaw is that which all online team-based games suffer from; namely, that pub games suck ass, and the game is best enjoyed on a LAN with friends, or in a clan. I REALLY want to play it, but I've not enough people around here to form a group, and I gave up clanning with qwtf and am loathe to go back. Is it worth it, seretogis? And would you have ME in your clan?

Yeah, it's worth it Kadath. We have our first scrim against another clan today, it should be fun. Drop me a PM when you get the game and I'll get ya setup.

By the way, what clans did you play with in qwtf? I've been in SW, [iNQ], [ ] (void), KiN, and CE. You're not lowt3k, are you?

Well the demo servers only have H-v-H games, so that may be a reason...

BTW: the demo ROCKS! Can't wait for Jan/Feb/March or whenever the boxed set is released in Europe

I have yet to see a B vs B game, I wanted to try one of those out. H vs H is kinda cool. Cause you don't get so many melee people. So its pretty neat.. its more..... FPS-esque.

Just gimmie a good Commander please! I hate the people that upgade the lair, but won't give me any fucking weapons!!! argness! or they'll be slow with weapons and won't even get me a new class... ARG!!!!

Aside from sucky commanders, the game is sweet

This game is really outstanding. The developers will constantly be adding new content on a monthly basis. They will be adding more weapons, research trees, and a healer class soon.

Healer classes would be nice.. Everyone wants to be an officer, but do they do things that an officer should? Fuck no! Sure they regen faster, but they help EVERYONE NEAR THEM regen faster too!!! But no they always just go wherever they want.. I haven't had one help me when I had 6 life left.... Nor do I ever see them giving commands... I do.. Make me an Officer in game guys and I won't disappoint ya!
