Anyone excited about MGS Twin Snakes?

The game is coming out tomorrow. I love MGS so I'm probably gonna get it this week. I seen the trailer it looks awesome with many features from part 2. Anyone here getting the game?

One problem I seen in the trailer is that it looks like they used too much slow motion effects in the new cinemas. The overuse slow motion effect make the cutscenes look kinda.....lame.

I've been toying with the idea of picking up a gamecube, and this game is another very good reason for me to do so.

I'll be passing. It's not getting great reviews, only "good" reviews (there's a difference I tell you!). I nailed it on the head when I predicted an 8.5 from IGN a couple of months ago.

Electronic Gaming Monthly gave it 8, 8.5, and 9. That's not quite enough for me to play, especially since the first one is still amazing.

The flaws in it are the exact problems I had worries about when the trailer came out: the bullet-time stuff is cheesy as shit. Too much narration (more than the first!) and too little additions to gameplay are what's getting it those reviews according to the reviewers. In other words, if you haven't played it on the PS1, then buy this one. If you've played it on the PS1, it might be worth a rental. If you're a total Metal Gear freak, then buy it anyway!

You shouldn't really base your decision entirely upon reviews, play the game yourself then decide whether you should pass on it or not. 8.5 and 9 are very respectable scores to attain, especially these days when so much crap floods the market. If I like this game enough I'll probably buy a Gamecube (you hear that Nintendo, the fate of your income rests on this game!)

he's not basing the game "entirely on a review." He's basing it on the comparison of his assumptions of the game and how they correlate to the reviews. He said he didn't want to play it if there was too much narration, bullet-time shit, and so on, and guess what, there was!

I don't really feel like spending $50 on a game that is not as good as the first one. And this one isn't a sequel, just a remake. I'll get it on greatest hits probably.

Now if it got 9.5, 10, 10 and stuff like that (similar to the first game), then I would buy it immediately. But by what the reviews say (and they are rarely dead wrong), the game is for people who never played the first one and want to immerse themselves into the MGS universe.

I don't enjoy wasting money on games without knowing if they're good or not. Why waste $50 on a shitty game? Why waste $5 on a rental for a shitty game? Not many people out there can play any videogame at will without paying (damn Electronics Boutique workers! )

I've been buying videogames based on Electronic Gaming Monthly for 8 years. They haven't let me down once since I've been a subscriber. I trust them moreso than IGN, but I've rarely disagreed with IGN on reviews as well. If you can find a game review source that you trust and know, then it saves gamers a lot of time and money on shitty games. Keep in mind that I don't trust any reviewer out there; I trust the ones I'm used to and that have never failed me. That's one of the reasons I don't use www.metacritic.com . Some reviewers on there have given Final Fantasy 7 a 50 out of 100 saying it is the worst game of 1998. Do you really want to trust a critic like that? Nope!

Whaddya mean? I have games, but I'm currently playing Advance Wars 2 and Battlefield 1942: Desert Combat. I'm gonna start Beyond Good and Evil soon and probably Golden Sun as soon as I finish Advance Wars 2. If I had money I'd be buying Ninja Gaiden and Metroid Zero Mission. I hope that answers your question; if not, then just reword it and I'll reply!

They got rid of that policy at the EBs in my town. It made me very sad.

Yep, you can't return opened games in my town either. The 7-day return policy works for unopened games. Opened games can be exchanged for the same game only.

I'm just asking that cuz you said that you don't buy shitty game and buy videogames based on EGM for 8 years. EGM gave it 8, 8.5, and 9 and that is a pretty damn good score. so I was just wordering game do you play if you think that score is not good.

I'm sure I'll rent it since I loved it for the original. However, I don't think I'll buy it unless its magic overcomes me.

No no, don't get me wrong! I play games if they get 8 or above from IGN and EGM. It's simply that Twin Snakes is a remake of a game that came out five years ago. There was no need to make it, and I wasn't counting on playing it unless it was a mind-breaking, spectacularly new experience. I played through Metal Gear Solid 6 times, and I really don't feel like doing it again to see a few bullet-time effects. Now that every damned reviewer that I've read has said that this is for first-timers to MGS, I think I'll pass. I've actually read that the older gameplay level designs has conflicts with the new gameplay mechanics which cause frustration. I don't want a perfect experience from a videogame to be tarnished with a remake that just adds better graphics. Some people do; I imagine it will be the same people that played Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance. I'd rather spend my money on a new experience.

The game is obviously good, just look at the good scores it's getting! I simply don't want to play through MGS again for newer graphics. I wanted Silicon Knights to design this remake so it'll seem refreshing to those who played the first one a lot, but it doesn't seem that it happened.

Why does it really matter what EGM and IGN give a game? You sound as if they're reviews are the end all be all of any video game. They could give a game a 4.5 or something but if it's a fun game anyway, people are gonna play it. People who rely strictly on the reviews of these so called 'professionals' need to look past their reviews and give some games a chance regardless. Now that that is out of the way, on to the topic at hand, I just bought this game and love it already.

You missed my point! How are gamers supposed to look past the reviewers and give games a chance? Do you have enough money to go and shell out $50 for every game that looks interesting? If I bought every damn game that I thought looked neat, I'd end up with The Bouncer, Devil May Cry 2, and Unlimited Saga. I don't want to waste my money on shitty games. I don't want to waste time to find out if a game has major flaws.

The only way to bypass this is to read someone else's review of a game. If they've never let me down, then what's the bad aspects of trusting them? Hey, if you have enough money to spend to find out if games suck or not, then be my guest. I spend my money on games that are quality, and it's led me to the fact that I haven't played a bad game in a really, really long time.

Yes, you're right, we all can't spend $50 on every game. Oh yeah, that's what video stores are for, to rent them for cheap if you wish. I can see looking at reviews for flaws and the such but to base your opinion of a game solely on what other people tell you, that's putting too much trust in what other people say about something.
