The Suffering
Saw a clip about this game on G4 and thought it looked promising, being a fan of the horror genre myself. Here's a link to the official site:
http://www.midway.com/futuretense_cs...03/index.html# But before I pony up the fifty bucks I wanted to see if anyone had played it. The premise seems solid: A man, Torque, is convicted of a murder he may or may not have committed and sent to jail. I guess how you play the game effects the not only how the game ends, but also effects the backstory, meaning his guilt is decided by how you play the game. After he's sent to jail, some type of ghosts take over the prison and he escapes from his cell and must fight his way out. Which seems like every other horror game. So I don't know wether to buy it or not. But the preview clips did look pretty cool |

I've played it.
Really played only the first 10 minutes of it (I'm in the process of SH3 and it drives me nuts to have multiple games going on), but so far it looks promising. One VERY awkward thing is the controls. You use the left analog stick to move.. up/down = forward/backward, left/right = strafe. To turn left, you need to use the right analog stick. Sounds simple, but when you're fighting multiple things, it's very hard to get a good view of what's going on. There's an alternate controller config that I'll try out, hopefully it changes it up a bit. The general feel of it from what I've played is... survival horror with a LOT more action than Resident Evil/Silent Hill. The amount of weapons you get is insane, and the creatures, which are themed around different methods of execution, remind me of something you'd find in Silent Hill.

Played...Beat....will play again.
This games is super sweet! Its freakier than Silent Hill's but the puzzles aren't as hard, so you think about it then pass through. The game is one of the best I've played! If you like the horror type game, RENT IT RIGHT AWAY!!! I wouldn't really buy it though; Me and a friend beat the game in about 6-7 hours of total play time. But it was the best hours in horror gameing that I have ever had! Pick it up for a couple days!!! |
