New Half-Life 2 Date?
Greetings Everyone, I just picked up the new PC Gamer magazine. I was glancing at the upcoming releases and I just happened to notice that they have slated for release on June 30, 200 was HL 2. Is this a "firm" date or has this date already been pushed back? Just wondering. Thanks

Sorry, had to get it out of my system. Recently at the GDC (Game Developers Conference) Gave Newell told everyone that production for Half-Life 3 has begun with a possibility of being able to play as the female sidekick whom stars alongside Gordon Freeman in HL2. HL2 has no confirmed release date whatsoever, though it'd be great for it to arrive in June my hopes a slim. From what we saw of the leak in September less than 20% of the game had been completed, apparently they want to rewrite portions of the game now too so any date this side of the year seems incredibly unlikely. I'm vouching for a pre-Christmas 2004 release. I wouldn't put money on anyones "release date". Last edited by Mr.Deflok; 03-26-2004 at 09:17 PM.. |

The game may come out this year but don't believe until you see some BIG marketing push that extends to the windows at EB Games to the Billboards on the busiest Highways of America. Last edited by Mr.Deflok; 03-27-2004 at 01:26 AM..

Like Deflok, and I'm sure a lot of people at this stage, I don't really care when the game comes out any more. I'll buy it when it does but I'm not bouncing off the walls waiting for it. Anyway, I cant afford to upgrade my pc at the moment so it's not like I could play it anytime soon anyway.

| Sultana ruined my evil persona Location: Los Angeles | They made us belive that this game was more than 80% at E3 (my guess-ta-mate). The AI looked done to me at the time. It is sad, very sad. Gabe said this game WILL be out Sept 30 and had everyone's hope up. Could have been the first time a game was ever anounced with a firm release date. But they fell on thier faces when they couldn't deliver. I still think the "leaK" was a hoax to buy time. I'm still waiting for this game. Good thing UT2k4 came out to help me forget about it.

| Insane | gamers should just forget about release dates all together. While I think it's healthy to stay excited about an up and coming game, don't be too upset when the date gets pushed back - it's bound to happen. After all, wouldn't you rather have a quality product come out later than a rushed piece of shit? Developers should just adapt a new standard - instead of giving dates, seasons, quarters, or even years, just say Soon, Not Soon, or Duke Nukem: Forever.

| Psycho | I just hope that, after a thousand years. Some historical experts will escavate my tome. (The tomb of Charles the First, Great Leader of Earth) to uncover an ancient paper painting (my half-life 2 slip from radean video card) and use it to exchange the half-life 2 which should be just out by then. (along with Dukem Nukem Forever)

| Psycho Location: Canada | I'll believe its out when I start playing it. Before that, I'll suspect that I've purchased a Valve produced Patching engine that allows you to continuously download patches from STEAM without anything to apply it to.

| Fluxing wildly... Location: Auckland, New Zealand | How much is the bet that when it's finally released, it will suffer from the same problem that the first half-life suffered from: Great game, but with graphics that were awesome at the time of announcement but slightly below par by the time it was actually released...

| Psycho Location: Sinaloa, Mexico | Maybe they are waiting for new computers to come out, I heard HL2 will stretch the capabilities of even the most high-end graphics processors. What a shame, I liked Half-Life alot but I'm not buying a new computer for the sequel.
