Before video games, there was Pinball!

Here's a list of my favorite pinball machines. Anyone remember any of these?
Xenon
Black Night
Addams Family
Funhouse
Firepower
Flash
Eight Ball Deluxe
Gorgar

For those interested, here's a bunch of pinball links:

I love pinball, but I keep braking the tables !

The Adams Family is quite good, I also liked the South Park one, and Demonlition Man. Junkyard is also a brilliant table.

The greatest though-- the Tommy pinball game. As in the Who and Pinball Wizard, Tommy. They used to have it in the union where I go to college, and I always wanted to play it blindfolded and see how I would do.

There were actually two machines based on the movie, Wizard and Captain Fantastic. Both great games!

Why don't you buy one? They cost anywhere from $200 to $2000 used. I've got a few.

I learned how to play pinball on some oldies, but then I didn't get good on pinball until Elvira Mistress of the Dark.... I definitely love the Williams pinballs machines... hate the Gottleib ones.

I was actually certified to repair williams machines.
They are great things to own, but a bitch to upkeep if you have kids, or play rough. It's sad that pinball companies went out of business/ got bought up by 2 or 3 main corporations. It's also sad that there are rumors tthat most companies will stop making pinball machines in the near future.. They just dont make sense when you look at their cost to upkeep vs. revenue brought in.

No doubt about it, Williams pins were always the best! I just thought of another one I liked; Silverball Mania.

It's a williams... i think its a 96 or 98 machine... Not too sure off the top of my head though.

It's a total Caddyshack rip, even with a ripoff rodney dangerfield type character... alas no bill murrey though.

Very Nice. I was thinking it was an older game (my pins are all much older). Any game made by Williams is excellent!

You're talking big bucks for those machines! Check out these prices: TNT Pinball

You might do better by keeping an eye on your local want ads. Or better yet, go to an auction:

Indiana Jones
Star Wars (from Data East)
Guns N' Roses
Hook
Apollo 13 (the 13 ball mulitball was crazy)
Lethal Weapon 3
Twilight Zone
Getaway - High Speed II

Too bad that pinball machines are about as rare as they come these days. Visual Pinball satisfies the habit pretty well though

Eight or so years ago you could find pins and old arcade vids dirt cheap. Now that everyone thinks everything is worth collecting, it's hard to find them cheap. Pins can also be very difficult to keep in good working order.

Williams machines would have to be some of the better ones I've played on.. I remember when I was down on the gold coast and I discovered Monster Bash.. I never clocked it, but it just go to easy, paying for one and then getting 3 extra credits is just too much..

The southpark ones are good too, but the new simpson table is supposed to rock

I remember watching that scene and thinking, what a waste! But I'll tell ya, at the time they filmed Tommy, I'm sure there were thousands of broken down old electro-mechanical pins gathering dust in warehouses up and down the east and west coasts. I used to be able to pick them up in Asbury Park (NJ) for about $100 a machine!

Just had a nice surprise. Stopped into a bar for some brews and wings, and way in the back was a ole pin by it self.
High Roller Casino by Stern. What fun it was, considering not one of my favorite pins. Got lots of extra balls, free games, multi ball. No high score thou. Machine was in great working order and was a gas to play! An added bonus was some good tunes playing in the background. Iron Butterfly! LOL! Good times, Damn! I want one of these pins bad.

I had the high score on addams family pinball at my local watering hole for awhile, it was the proudest two days of my life, one of the only times I didn't enter my initials as ASS or SEX. (on a side note, anyone notice how you can't do that on newer game machines? What if my initials really were ASS or SEX?)

my initials have BJ in them.... a lot of arcade games, specifically Capcom games see that and erase my initials... Damn bastards. But yes I too used to use ASS. Why'd they have to ruin our fun.

Bumping up an old thread.

Good to see some other pinball fans out there. Just played some good pinball this afternoon on a new Lord of the Rings table. Great game lots of fun. Check it out here.

Some of my other favourites:

White Water
Medieval Madness
Attack from Mars
Roller Coaster Tycoon
The Simpsons Pinball Party

Many more I can't remember at the moment. I'll be getting a couple tables as soon as I can afford too. I'd love to have one or two of these in my basement.

A lot of great tables listed. I used to really love the Indiana Jones one, and a personal favorite is still Street Fighter (even has a little car you could whack for bonus points). The place I used to work had Batman Forever, but we only had the machine about a month before a ball got stuck someplace it shouldn't be, and the boss was too damn cheap to get it serviced.

MY favourites were the addams family, the creature from the lagoon (not it's real name, probably) and corvette.

Not many people know this, but it is possible to emulate pinball machines using Pinmame and VPinball. The result is quite satisfactory, though it's obviously not the same as playing a real machine. I have a copy of the addams family pinball on my harddisk that I play quite often, for example.

I remember in college, there was a small game room, and they had the T3 pinball game...I loved playing that.

Anyone have links/sources for those pinball emulators? I've got MAME Rom's for pinball, but if the other emulators are better, cool!
