One of the first and best games I've ever played was mechwarrior 2. Nothing fancy, just good old mechanized combat. It's hard to beat a good mech game, even if it had completely untextured polygons.

I've picked up a copy of mercenaries, got the mech packs, and got this mektek expansion. I've been playing it quite a bit lately, and it has pulled me away from the good but somehow mediocre doom 3.

Anybody else here play? If so, what mechs/configs do you like to use?

I am a fucking mech junkies I have all the incarnations of mechwarrior and even dropped the 200 bucks on Steel Battalion. I perfer a Mad Dog (Vulture) with swapping the pulses for ExLLs that makes me happy.

I'm not really a vulture fan. I prefer the Loki out of the clan heavies. The Mad Cat just doesn't do the job, and Thor feels like too much of a compromise. The Loki has great speed, great pods, and great electronics.

See, though in Clan matches I used a jumpsnipe Thor, since in BL we were only allowed 70 tonners.

Great game. Other games get installed, played, and removed, but this one always stays. I prefer anything heavy!

Bah! I hate hill humpers enough, but pop tarts are even worse. At least you avoided the nova cat, though the seven laser variant is a fun and slightly challenging one.

I prefer to mix up my weapons a bit, and play for fun. That's why I like the Atlas better than the Daishi.

Man, I haven't touched anything Mech since Mechwarrior 2. Which was about 2 weeks ago. Jump Jetted Warhawk = insane fun. In a way.

I've burned out two copies of Mechwarrior 2. Seriously, I think I need help. I'm now looking for my third disc. I consider it one of the best games ever made. If anyone know's where you can buy an old Mac version of Mech 2, please tell me.

MechWarrior 2 came with my first computer, and is the game that got me into computer gaming. I was around 12 when I got it, and i just loved it and played it constantly.

Later on I bought the game Earthsiege 2 which I found really fun as well. I heard everything after mechwarrior 2 wasn't very good so I never got those, and havn't got any other mech games since either. After reading this thread and thinking about it again, I might just look for some to get though.

MW4 is pretty fun. The hardpoint system doesn't have a lot in common with the pnp game, but as a mech game, it's solid. MW2 is just so old now...

oh I forgot to mention I'm an old school Battletecher too, like the pnp game. Atlas and Diashi? ..coward..lol

coward? mabye, but I'm just there to have fun. I've never really used the Daishi in online play, as I usually go down a few weight classes and try to play roles. No mech is cowardly if you do interesting things with it. FWIW, I very rarely boat anything besides autocannons.

I don't agree with what you say about the no mech is cowardly if you do interesting things in it, but to each his own I don't want to flame you or anything. And missleboats are easy to counter.
