Ping & UT 2004 Question - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

I play UT 2004 Instagib style. To explain, on the servers that I like to play on you fire your rifle wait a beat and then you can fire again (I think the technical term for the settings are "No Remorse?") So I am playing today and this chick comes along and starts killing me, repeatedly, because she is able to fire more quickly than I am. I asked how she was doing this and she replied that she must have a better ping then I do. Granted, after checking I had a ping of 86 and she had a ping of 50 but this answer struck me as not necessarily true. Could she be right? As I have problems turning on my computer, I am not what you could call an expert. Could someone please shed some light on this question? Thanks

A few possibilities are likely:

1. She's simply really fuckin good
2. She's cheating

Your ping being that low won't matter, especially 30 milliseconds difference.

what connection are you running?

56k?

heaven forbid 19.9

also you might be playing on her server
Ex: having another tower sitting next to her running the game so she has incredible ping but dosn't come up as 0 ping..
so she would be running server side and get a ping about 10- 50 which is amazing
or shes cheating..

but i would go with those other ideas first

i'm not really into instagib... not enough variety =P and it's just one shot kills... but it does hone your shock rifle skills... i've played with people who hardly miss when using it in a regular match. that may be a reason why she's always killin' you, she hardly misses, and it might just seem that she's faster.
i've also played with people who seem to fire really quick, in non instagib. i swear they got something altered... a cheat or some kind of bind that makes things easier or something... cause goodness knows i haven't figured out how to jump half way across the room in a diagonal yet... =P

my suggestion: trim your fingernails... i always play faster after i trim my nails =)
