Favorite fighting game character
What is your favorite fighting game character and why?
For me, it has to be Ryu. No other character has had such influence on the mechanics of many fighters. A lot of the ninja in games look so much like him, but can never be as badass. Nothing like a Hadouken or Shoryuken...ever! |
Hwang Sung Kyung, Soul Calibur. His moves and dodges just clicked with my own sense of timing. I could play him without effort, just flow.
any Lin Kuei, simply for the fact that they're all badass ninjas.
i always preferred ken over ryu.
ryu was a little too "good guy main character" and ken's moves (at least in original sf2) did more damage (2 hit axe kick, 2 hit tackle/throw) kim dong hwong/kim jae hoon (kim kap whan's sons)- Garou: Mark of the wolf (takes place like 20 years after "fatan fury/king of fighters", you also use geese's son) the blind samurai (cant recall is name)- Last Blade the red fire samurai guy (cant remember his name either!)- Samurai Showdown |
Akuma because he has all the same moves as my other fave, Ryu, and has a few extras to boot (namely the air-hadoken). Not to mention the fact that he exudes such a bad ass quality that there's no way in hell you can't like him.
Mai or Yamazaki!
Personally, I am unstoppable as Yoshimitsu... He's my personal favorite
Come on. No love for Kazuya Mishima? Kaz is the man. That scar is more hardcore than you will ever be.
The first fighting game I ever played was Street Fighter 1, and Ryu has been my favorite ever since.
paul from tekken is awesome.
I always played as Guile (sp?) on street fighter.
lui kang - mk2 &
TJ combo - Killer instinct |
Ken is my favorite on arcade machines
folowed by Akuma on console and then Ryu for the "VS" series man i miss my sega saturn, sf alpha 2 was such a bad ass game :( |

SKULLOMANIA from Street Fighter Ex Plus Alpha And BRIAN from the Tekken serious. Makes me want to get a playstation and play these great fighters all over again! |
i always really liked brian from tekken. he was just a badass brawler. and he had some really killer moves if you knew how to master him. (i started to get into king for a while for the same reason, quite flashy, but very good if you knew how to use him)
but i just liked brian the best. nothing too flashy, no real 'martial arts' just a back street brawler/cyborg. |
Shun Di and Lei-Fei from the Virtua Fighter games, Zappa and Eddie/Zato-One from Guilty Gear X2, Iori Yagami from the King of Fighters series, and Jubei Yagyu, Ukyo Tachibana, and Genjyuro Kibagami from the Samurai Shodown games.
Lau from virtua fighter 1-4
i heard that they're gonna make him die and not put him in virtua fighter 5 and that makes me sad, i'll have to start playing with pai and I hate pai, lau is where the party at |
Oh yeah, Guile is the shit also.
he came outta no where to own the smash universe. marth.
Player 2 (aka "The Red Guy") in Karate Champ. I mean player 1 ("The White Guy") was just so bland, I don't think he had the pure burning desire to be The Karate Champ.
mine would be cloud(ff7) and the dude from painkiller
Chipp Zanuff. Speed speed speed. He's been my favorite ever since I was introduced to the GG series. Plus he's a ninja. Ninja's flip out and kick people's heads off all the time.

Another vote for Paul in Tekken. The only Tekken character to have a personal arch-nemesis set in place by the Mishima family to prevent him from winning.
Raphael from soul caliber 2 and Jin Kazuya from Tekken.
definitely have to go with Ryu. no other fighting game character has been copied over and over again as much as Ryu. and I was always a big fan of the ninjas in MK, from Sub-Zero to Scorpion, they were all badass.
Marshall Law - Tekken, just because I like the whole Bruce Lee vibe and also most of his moves are bad ass.
I liked Scorpion is the early Mortal Kombat games... Ryu in the Street Fighters... I haven't been into these kinda games for a long time. But then I got a gamecube and Super Smash Brothers Melee, and can pound everyone with Samus :p
Tekken - Haworang (sp?)
Street Fighter - Ken Soul Blade/Calibur 1 and 2 - Mitsurugi Mortal Kombat - Sub-Zero Marvel vs Capcom - Wolverine |
mortal Combat - Scorpion
soul calibur - Nightmare tekken - Eddy |
Another vote for AKuma....I like using Sagat too...his uppercut just looks so cool since it hits you like ten times...
Akuma @ SF
Any Lin Kuei @ MK Heihachi (sp?) @ Tekken oh and Venom in the MVC series :p |
Check my avatar for the best, followed closely by Paul from tekken. He was the namesake of my dead father.
Ivy from Soul Calibur is my favorite fightng game character.
Iceman from Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
Ryu 4 life. Guile was cheap as hell and Ken was a wannabe.
Fei Long from Street Fighter
X-Men 2(dont know the title, latest fighting one)- Nightcrawler
X-Men Children of the Atom- Ice Man Mortal Combat- Nightwolf Marvel vs Capcom- Spider-Man |
Scorpion, from ever Mortal Kombat game.
Can I say, "Get over here!" |
roguehunter is that quote from george carlin?
Ryu owns all other fighting game characters, hands down.
hmmmm,
MK:DA --> Scorpion, or Shang Tsung MK:D -->Raiden, or Sub-Zero, One Must Fall --> Shadow with the Ice upgrade, possibly Katana |
Lets not forget sigfried from the soulblade/calibur series. His sword of masculinity will defeat all!!
Scorpion - Mortal Kombat
Nightwolf - Mortal Kombat Hwoarang - Tekken Brian - Tekken |
I own you at any Tekken with Nina.
Jam Kudoberi....just fan service personified plus her one hit kill is one the sweetest ones ever.
samurai shodown- galford
soul calibur - raphael or mitsurugi (who would have thought a frenchman would've made the list? street fighter- ken (probably favorite character overall) virtua fighter- lau dead or alive- the one with the rack fatal fury/kof- the old guy w/the booze tekken- paul (phoenix smash is a killer) |
Voldo and Nightmare - Soul Calibur
Nightmare is the one I bust out when I can't beat someone. You hit them twice and you've won. ^_______^ |
I definitely have to go with Scorpion on this one. I think he has the most bad ass outfit i've ever seen.
Lets see...
Scorpion is plain bad ass... And oh well this isn't a fighting game but Max Payne rocks Also Hwoarang, Eddy and Law are nice on the Tekken series |
i would have to go with blanka from the older street fighters (when he sounded better and alot more fierce). esp if it was a version you could select an alternate colour and he was blue. seein the blue devil rolling all over the screen at twice the speed of anyone else - the coolest thing u've ever seen. esp if u won the round with a roll and he would bounce off the opponent and roll thru the air in slow mo for a while with that WOOT WOOT sound of the roll still goin on or sometimes he would back flip out of the roll in slow mo looking even cooler. makes me miss sf, haven't play it in a while... oh the good ol days (sniff sniff)
I forgot in my earlier post to list Roy from the Fire Emblem series. He and scorpion combined could own the world.
i like Yoshi
Captain Falcon was awesome in super smash brothers. Any fighter that showboats with something like a six hour long punch, you KNOW it's gonna be good.
Scorpion? pah, Raiden. Or better yet, Scorpion in a Raiden hat. Now that'd be magical. |
No love for Chun Lei?
I'm all about nightmare. I mean look, he has a sword that blinks. Ryu comes in a close second. I usually refuse to play as anyone else.
I love Yun and Yang from Street Fighter Three
The animation of Chun-Li from Three is most bad ass also. My personal favorite and always will be is Ryu from Street Fighter Three, I want my body style to be just like his and I'm getting there :) |
marshall law i'll make a vote for too.
Faust from the GG series. Good range, good damage, a very painful looking overdrive move, and he just so fucked up I cant help but choosing him over everyone else.
And Ivy from Soul Calibur because...well...you know... |
Raiden (Yes another one) From MK
and Xianghua from Soul Calibur 2 |
Ketchup from Free French Fries
From Soul Blade/Calibur: Seung Mina.
SNES - Street Fighter, my fav. is Ryu
Neo Geo - World Heroes 2 Jet, i always pick Ryofu Neo Geo had the best fighting games when it was around. Samurai Showdown, World Heroes, ect... |
It really depends, because I can say just one, but each game has, in my opinion, a character that is just too much fun (or too cheap. Sometimes for me this is the same thing.)
Street Fighter 2 -Blanka Samuri Showdown - Genan or Amakusa Capcom Vs. Marvel - Venom/Spider-Man team Tekken - Jin or Hwarang (sp?) Soul Calibur 2 - Link or Cervantes Dead or Alive 2 - Tengu Guilty Gear XX - Testament or Anji Mito Mortal Kombat - Scorpion All are fun to play with. Though really the only game of all those I can play and still feel like I don't lose even when I do is Guilty Gear. That game can get so fast it just blows my mind. |
Haohmaru and Hanzo from Samurai Showdown1 to SS64. A samurai with huge hair and a ninja with attitude. SNK had some good characters.
ryu, no question.
he has the typical projectile, flying spinning kick, and rising uppercut (dragon punch). he is what started out the rest of these types of characters. without ryu, you wouldn't have mortal kombat, soul calibur, or virtua fighter. |
