Anyone else here play hacking games?

I just started working on HackQuest again, and managed to complete another challange. That always puts me in a good mood :-) (My stats page)

Anyone else play these?

I have a copy of uplink, and it's fun, but... Well, it does't require a whole lot of thinking. It's really a very glorified script kiddy sim/spy game (which doesn't make it ant less fun, and it DOES have a plot, which sadly most online hacking games lack). Most people don't even know how to bypass a javascript applet. http://www.try2hack.nl/ is a pretty good site for newbies, I just started and got to level 6, no sweat. Anyhow I find these sites a good (FREE) way to have fun. If anyone wants to brag about thier skills, I'd welcome sombody to compete with

try2hack.nl as i last recall only goes up to lvl 13.. havent done that in so long of a time.. But yus its a great area for n00bs to learn, starts out easy , then gets into some stuff that you need to explore for, covers alot of the basics, really nice and its free.

yotta - I'll kill you! I just casually browsed out to try2hack and am stuck on a level now, but I can't stop fiddling with it! Damn! This is lots of fun, and in spite of all the negative publicity hacking gets, it really is educational. Thanks for the link.

Wow, try2hack.nl is really fun...but I suck at it....anyone mind giving me a hint (not an answer) to level 2. I'm no hacker, but I'm having fun trying.

Is that the one with the Flash login?

Ever open up a JPEG or an EXE in a text editor? Remember how crappy it all looked?

Looks like an interesting concept. I saw the thread title and I instantly thought of Nethack. Has anyone else here made an attempt for the Amulet of Yendor?

Yup. That's me. I'd ask you for hints, but then I wouldn't learn. Got the first crypto one today, it was pretty cool.

BTW, One of the things I like about hackquest is you can do challenges in any order.

Dim5: I've played nethack a bit. I don't know anybody that hasn't gotten the amulet without cheating.

Peetster: If you haven't noticed, the challange titles are hints.

I did 'Linux 1' from hackquest friday morning before work. That was fun

Also, check out http://hackergames.net/ , there's a bunch of challange sites there.

The challange titles are the best source ever. Especially if you look at them literally. I'm about to get my first jewel in the javascript section.

I've been playing Hack Wars lately it's an online hacking game that is free to play. It's currently in beta and it's a ton of fun hacking other players and stealing their money and overwriting their scripts. Everyone is really cool and friendly even while they are hacking the hell out of you =)

Check it out at www.hackwars.net

is try2hack actually down? This is what's displayed: "Try2hack will be back soon!"
Or is this part of the challenge?
