Sewing

Hmm, so to start this thread off in a context:

I'm trying to make myself a cosplay costume, and after looking on google for a good hour and a half (I probably suck at searching with it) I gave up and decided to see if anybody here is at home in the world of sewing and the patterns that go with it.

Does anybody here know where I could find sewing patterns for a trenchcoat? I need to make one with a bordeaux satiny look (slightly shiny, hard contrast cloth).

For the costume:

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but then again, I didn't know where else to put it.

Thanks in advance for any help

I'd go to a sewing store and jusst find a pattern for a trench coat and use that.. mccalls or butterick would have one...

if you're new to the world of sewing, you're in for a challenge for your first project.. lapels arent all that easy to do...

I don't live in the USA, but I'm planning on going to a store this weekend, hopefully with better results than my internet browsing.

And I'm giving myself a whole year to finish it, I know I'm taking on alot again

It's great that you're giving yourself a lot of time, but what is your sewing skill level? If you are new to sewing, it would do you a HUGE lot of good to take a sewing class or three to start. Then you can make nearly anything, and your project won't be so onerous.

Believe me when I tell you this, it's the voice of experience.

It looks like a Fantastic costume, and I'd love to see documentation of the process as well as the finished piece.

Have you ever visited cosplay.com? Lots of young'un, but a lot of info as well.
