I want to convert some Tool concert videos from youtube to my mp3 player, but many conversion applications I tried noticeably reduce the sound quality.

What [free] program is out there that would reduce the sound quality as little as possible?

Have you tried Audiacity ? Record it as it plays. Set the sample rate up ?
Just a thought.
