				Refrigerator: The compressor is moaning
Hi, I'm a college student who moved in with my grandma to save money for college about a little over year or two ago. Her refrigerator sometimes "moans." The unit in the freezer will make a noise sometimes. If you hit it, it will stop making the noise. It will stop on its own also. Should I start saving up for a new refrigerator? She said that it's done that for years. I'm going to move out by the end of 2004 to go to a university. Should I just let it run it's coarse? If i buy another frige, any advice? PS I'm not sure if I asked this before. I don't think so. The hollidays have been crazy! Happy New Year |

| Insane Location: Seattle | I don't know too much about fridges, but one maintenance item you can do is to clean the grill/vent at the bottom of the front of the fridge. The dirt and clog in this vent reduces the efficiency of the fridge's workings.

| Crazy Location: South East US | Used refrigerators are common, find one. It sounds like a bearing has gone bad. If it is very old, it uses tons more electricity than even a recent used one. Look around, you should find one for 150 bucks. Switching em out is the only main pain.
