HELP! shower drain

New shower, P-trap inaccessible(in concrete) I used a power snake to clean out the P-trap and the spring-type end of the snake broke off in the trap or past it a few inches. I've tried magnets and hooking it with a clothes hanger but no luck. It's far enough in that I can't see it. Any ideas?

Oh, man. This sounds like something that would happen to me.

I have a grabber-thingey that is a retractible claw on the end of a long flexible shaft. Maybe you can find one at your local harware store.

Sounds like trouble--Did it break off as you were going in or pulling out. If it was as you were coming out you may be able to use a flat tape snake to pop it free into the larger pipe and hope it flushes through with lots of water.
Good luck

I wouldn't do that because if it gets lodged somewhere else it could be even more expensive, and could potentially cause a blockup downstream that would cause raw sewage to spill out of all your drains. Not fun at ALL.

If you can't get it with a grabber (and you probably won't be able to) I would definitely call a plumber. You will have to pay some cash, but the alternative is to pay a lot more.

I've got so much money into this shower, I'd rather pay someone to remove this thing than to rip out all the tile and concrete. I'm not sure when it broke but I know within a couple feet where it is. I was only going in a few feet at the most. The clog was right at the P-trap which is only down a foot.

Not sure where you can find it nearby, look for music wire or spring steel (very strong) in either flat or round stock. Once you've formed a hook into the end, you may be able to snag the offending object. Good luck

Trap encased in concrete? Are you violating any building codes?
