This is for my sister. Seriously. I'm not in school, and when I was I took calc 2 after 1 year and a semester of no math at all, and not taking calc one at the college level, and I passed with a B without going to class. The thing is I don't learn things for a very long time. Bottom line is I'm real uptight and I don't want anyone to think I'm an idiot.

Sec2x-1 / secx-1

I'm sure this is simple.

I got to

1/ sinxcotx - cot2x

but i dont think I was actually going anywhere with that just kind of mutating the original expression

the 2 is supposed to be an exponent if that aws confusing anyone, which i doubt it was

The Sec^2 (x) -1 = (Sec(x)+1)*(sec(x)-1)

Thus you now have:
((sec(x)+1)(sec(x)-1))/(sec(x)-1)

the (sec(x)-1) cancels out on bottom and top leaving you with:
(sec(x)+1)

That is the most straightforward way to do this problem I believe. Hope that helps...

P.s. (the 2 being an exponent was very key to the problem, you probably should have emphasized that more, I was lucky I read the last line)(oh and I like paranthesies (obviously), they really help in math problems).
