compiling mp3 s

if wrong forum, sorry.

i have many +/- 60min mp3 mixes of countinuous house/trance music (essential mix type stuff).

i want to cut out pieces of music that i like and make my own mix.

what software should i use? (something easy/simple)

I also want to record my voice though a mic, add some dj type effect to it...something like "This is dj. mr.montreal." and mix it into my mix.

what can i use for that?

thanks is advance

what kind of budget?
powerhouse more expensive software option for $399 -> Acid Pro 4.0
fits this pefectly:

this is of course assuming you are using a win32 system, if it is *nix or Macintosh then that changes things obviously.

edit: as far as cutting bits out and breaking into individual tracks (I do this on a daily basis after transferring from vinyls) my favourite tool is Soundforge, which costs $400 as well. I use my registered version of the 6.0d build but have seldom used and never purchased Acid Pro aside from an older pirated version. If the need for it arises I might buy it one day
For cheaper options on basic editing (cropping things out/fadeouts/etc) -
free - audacity Very good program for its age.
$300 - the former Cool Edit Pro, now owned by Adobe and released as Audition. There used to be a slightly scaled down version of Cool Edit for $80 and the 'Pro' version for $250 but Adobe apparently dropped that scheme from what I can tell on their website.
I personally prefer SF over Cool Edit/Audition as last time I checked (which would be Cool Edit 2.0) there was not any kind of MDI interface that Sound Forge excels in and that even Audacity has.

forget to mention that both Soundforge and Acid Pro have thirty day demos.

I have done it with Soundforge and Acid, both came pre-installed in my Sony Computer. Both work great for what you are trying to accomplish.

These people are probably doing more than you are, but you can probably get some good tips by reading GYBO - How to make bootlegs. (In this context, 'bootleg' does not refer to "illegal live recordings".)

Have you tried http://www.goldwave.com/ . That's fairly cheap and it can do most of what you want to do. Fairly simple to use too.

CoolEdit Pro would be 100% perfect for that. Best of all, you can run it like 15 times for free (demo).
It's what I use. I love it. Extremely easy to use.

Would a warez-style old key be the only way to 'register' that now or does Adobe still support (as in purchasing) that in any respect with their updated version Audition the current build?
