Telephone wiring

Anyone know where I could get a quick tutorial on how to split phone wire for use throughout the house. Basically, I have one line coming in that I need to split to 5 phone throughout the house. Thanks in advance for your help...

Help me out with what you mean by 'split'. Is the house currently wired for telephones? How many lines (numbers) are you trying to distribute? The line coming in-does it terminate outside the house in a gray box about 5 x 7, or does it enter the house and stop at a black device in the basement with exposed wires and hex nut terminals? It sounds as though you want to send a single telephone number to 5 different wall jacks. Is that correct?

Thanks guys...i actually figured it out...i wasn't sure of a few minor details but the guide from the phone company helped answer my questions...
