Stained hardwood floor

My floor has a stain on it from a piece of construction paper that lay in a puddle while I was at work today. I've tried to scub it out but no way it is comming out. Any ideas besides sanding the area and refinishing it?

that's most likely what you'll have to do. Important question - is it solid hardwood or engineered hardwood? if it's the latter, you may NOT have the option of sanding it.

It's real wood. I took every cleaner in the house to it last night and it made no difference. I scrapped a layer of finnish off one spot with a knife sucessfully.

So, if you have kids remember, construction paper and water make a mess!!!!!

And yet another reason why I detest hardwood floors. Oh, they may look all warm and inviting, when properly done up, but not so. They're cold on my little tootsies, in the winter. Kids and pets ruin the finish. I hate 'em. I have hardwood floors all through my house. I can't get 'em carpeted over fast enough to suit me.

Love hardwood floors... the answer to Bill's issues is a good pair of slippers and area rugs...

You may want to try Tilex, the bleach will kill the color pigments and I believe that the Poly Eurathane will not be damaged. Don't leave it on too long and maybe try it out in a closet first or someplace less obvious.
