Wooden truck bed - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

Doas anyone have any advice to offer on how to build a wooden pickup truck bed? I have a 1988 jeep comanche, and the bed is totally shot. I want to put a wooden stake body on it, but am unsure how to go about building it. I'm figuring pressure treated wood is the way to go, but I have no idea how to design it.

I would still use steel for the frame of the bed. It will help absorb loading/unloading shock and will last longer. Personally I use a steel frame with steel diamond plate for the decking.

Well that would be ideal, but the cost of steel is prohibitive. Hence the wooden bed idea. But, now that I think about it, I imagine the way the frame twists would be rather tough on wood. Time to start asking around and find some steel.
