empty my basement

We've had more than a week of solid rain as of this moment. Last night was the heaviest it had been, and this morning my cellar has 2 inches of water in it. How the hell do I get all this water out? I'm off to try and get anything on the floor off the floor.

is there a sump pit in your basement? There should be. Stick a sump pump in there, run pipe to the outside (run it away from your house or you'll just pump the water right back in) and check local ordinances because some places require you to run it into the sanitary sewer.

Best part of this fix is, the sump pump will automatically come on when the water level in the pit gets too high, so your basement shouldn't flood again.

You can rent a pump from Home Depot for about $25 bucks. I had to get one when our washing machine overfilled for 20 minutes.

No sump pit that we know of, so we made a redneck bugget brigade. We filled up the wet dry vac, then drained it into 5 gallon pails and tossed them outside over the hill. We estimate over 400 gallon in the course of 2 hours.

Basements are never the same after they flood. You may want to run a dehumidifier for a while to lower the humidity as the water evaporates out of the concrete. It will also help avoid mold growth
