It's a delicate balancing act. Too many look at polyamorous relationships as just a lot of sex, but if there's no real friendships, an ability to be just as platonic as romantic, something will give out.
As SM pointed out, most marriages fail at some point. Perhaps one reason is the thought that 'I don't have to work at this as hard now' starts to take hold.
Complacency, too much comfort, etc. and before too long, boredom. If we go into anything with a thought that we better really enjoy this for as long as we can because it probably won't last, instead of sitting around thinking this is forever, maybe more couples/triples would succeed in the long run.

As usual, ng, you're 100% dead on with every word of this. :icare:

Got around more..

I traveled extensively, but not enough. As I was a Navy guy, most of the places you visit are obviously on the water.
I'd like to hit Japan, France, and Scotland. We probably will someday, but it was more adventurous traveling solo.

That, and perhaps explored sexuality more. The wife is very tame, as far as sack time goes. I'd have preferred to have tried some more "interesting" things when I had the chance.

...and an Asian girl... Never had the opportunity present itself back in the day, but now I find them exceedingly hot.

After reading through all of this I must say thanks to all, as I will be jumping into the pool of marriage soon, this brings a lot of insight into things I wish to see done before the leap

I wish I would have moved around a bit more. I wish I would have just picked up and moved after college and made minimum wage somewhere really interesting. Not that I don't love Madison, but every day it gets harder to contemplate starting over.

I wish I had just waited. I also think I would have done myself a favor by living alone for a while before marriage. I only just now got my own room (it's been 25 years since I could say that)!

I don't look back in regret, nor do I tend to look into the future with desire. I tend to take what I have in the present and make the most of it.

I wonder what it would have been like to have had lots of casual sex when I was single. However, it isn't part of my personality, so I know I wouldn't have done it anyway.

I wish I would have taken a step back and viewed the situation a little harder. It might not have changed anything, but I didn't "experience" life, especially college life, like I now wish I would have. That being said, I love my husband very much and find it hard to imagine life without him in it.

I wish I bought I a small starter house and rented it out. That way I would have had some equity building and would have felt like I brought more than just a good insurance plan and some good lovin to the table.

I wish I'd saved all the money I made when I was still living with my parents.
