Body fat % scales????

How do these work and are they accurate? I just bought one and it seems to be accurate at least within a few %, but want to learn more about them.

they work by sending an electrical pulse through your body and based on the time/speed it takes to return to the pads, the height you input, gender, and your weight it can determine how much of your body weight is made up by fat. it has something to do with the impedence of electricity through the composition of fat. in general, they're accurate to 2-5% i think. they're a good tool to keep track of it, even if your off a bit.

I just want to agree with Mael.

The home devices aren't super-accurate, but I think most people are just watching for changes anyway. They work fine for that purpose.

I like the calipers, they allow you to moniter specific areas for charting. Different people carry fat differently. If two people are 5'10, weigh 180 and both register 11% on a machine it doesnt mean their going to have the same physical structure.

Calipers are better imo. The scales do not work as accurately imo.
